The whole point of this letter, the reddit lockdown, the new rules about what is off-topic, and the constant post deleting is to make sure you forget about Temtem Swarm, that you don't negatively review Temtem Swarm, that new community members coming in with Swarm have no idea what Crema is like. Don't let them just slip away with a successful cashgrab.
I stopped playing TemTem halfway through due to the difficulty curb, specifically the EXP grind was just far too slow for my liking. There is slow exp gain, but then there is S L O W exp gain, which is what it felt like playing TemTem, has it changed at all?
Ok this is mostly great, but:
>no offline mode
>’mmo-lite’ model is now even less sustainable.
I’m worried. They should make an offline mode in a 1.8 update. That way it could potentially alleviate server costs to just people engaging in online features. Many MMO-lite games do this with an Offline/Online toggle.
I’m excited for Temtem Swarm though.
All i want is an offline mode and with that paid DLC's
I dont mind having battlepasses for exclusive cosmetics
All i want is offline mode and multiple save slots. I love replaying these games fresh but i cant do that unless i wipe my save
Telling the consumer of your product "you're all wrong and we're right" is just horrendous PR.
It seems they want all the advantages of an online service game without putting in the work. This feedback just seems to say they didn't think out how to manage and profit off this while keeping their user base engaged / coming back.
While it's a bit sad, that TemTem itself won't go offline for a while, it is nice to see, how much heart they put into the IP and I'll keep my Eyes and Ears open for them
Its crazy how they basically shutdown temtem and expect people to accept silently and still support another games that no one asks for
if they didn't wanna call it a fucking MMO and wanted to clarify this shit they could have stepped in on both forums and their own discord server when me and others like me complained about the EXP and Pansun grind back when Kisiwa was fresh and people literally said it is done intentionally to grow an "MMO economy". this is why I expect this game to do proper live service updates: they had a fucking battle pass and they designed a lot of mechanics around being an MMO outside of being always online. don't fucking gaslight me Crema then quietly throw your game in the trashcan because you got called out.
Hey Ed, I'm pretty strongly against playing Temtem while it's 100% online. Would you recommend buying a copy now, in the hopes that it'll eventually go offline?
Give us offline mode.
these devs are some of the most clueless people I've ever seen in the public eye, like what are they on about💀
This isnt a real apology this is a I'm sorry you didnt understand what we meant when we advertised our game as an mmo to make sales and now that were done and dont want to add more content we are going to explain how we really meant mmo lite and honestly look at what we added for you so you should be happy with this
They're not even apologizing, just "learned for future" HUH
Bruh moment
i am sorry that last bit on dlc was just pure stupid mmo have had and all way will have DLC/Exspashions and do not have a problem like that because it not pay to win unless you going to power creap the dlc in that case that just say what you are as a devlper there game is dead they killed it form ever growing with this and its sad
As a comment, I'll copy over my current steam review for Temtem:
The devs just wrote a massive apology to the community, and promised to remove all micro transactions from the game, while adding them into the game as free content.
As such I'm reversing my previously negative review. My main criticism was that devs promised an MMO, and the only thing live service about it at that point was its microtransactions. I'm also happy to hear they will be reworking the games economy to reduce the grind.
My criticism remains, but they acknowledged criticism that the game appeared as an MMO, when mmo-lite (or co-op game, as I would call it) would have been a more appropriate label. I'd push back and say if you call something an mmo everywhere, and write a single disclaimer in one place, you know what you're doing. But they're a company advertising their game at the end of the day.
I will say, I still think they're misusing their IP. Temtem Swarm may work, its a spinoff game, and that genre is hot right now, but an animated series seems a massive waste of resources. In my opinion (and that of many other players) if they could add a fun new form of endgame co-op PVE, it could revitalize the game. But apparently they disagree, which I think is unfortunate. The community knows what it wants, and I'd recommend they put some of their preconceptions aside and try listening to it.
This is a very cautious recommend, I'm like 60% of a mind to recommend, and 40% to not. I had a lot of fun with this game, and definitely got my hours worth (I probably had about 200 hours over discord before they migrated to steam) but the game is expensive for what it is, considering competing products.
then just sell supporter packs wtf xD
End of the day no matter what crema goes on to do they will never see anywhere near the level of success they had in the past and probably end up bankrupt because they betrayed so many peoples trust and overall no one will trust them enough to open thier wallets again since they mishandled things on such a large public scale.
Yeah… I have a lot of monster tamer games, but Tem Tem never even made my wishlist.
average 500 players, why the hell not make it offline avaiable so i can play on the steam deck on travels xD
I was in love with TemTem but the game is actually more broken than pokemon
I think tem tem got really looky. Cause their vision for the game is so insane. where this game is mmo? just because its always online and you see people running around for no reason? No dlc because of competitive… gee, thats awful.
"We HEARD you talking about things you wanted as a community" They heard us, they just didn't do anything about it though. Sad that there was such a disconnect. Had multiple instances of Devs being rude in their discord or steam discussions as well. Temtem couldn't succeed during a time where we got Pokemon Scarlet and Violet which ran at 10FPS. A shame.
Gameplay wise, Temtem is the best monster taming game, specifically the battle system. Far better than pokemon imo. Visually better, better sound, everything was better and fresh. So sad to see the end of this game because of the Devs
I still don't understand the problem with Swarm. it looks like what the game should've been in the first place
W Crema
This is really good from Crema
Being able to grind all previous tamer passes for free is amazing
People were seriously asking for a sequel? Or was just this the devs way of seeing if they still had a chance with the same people in the future?
It was built on a lie. I just worry the servers will go down since it's not a huge revenue source and all those people will lose their money.
Kinda just sounds like excuses to not have to do anything else for temtem. Game had so much promise and couldve been as big as palworld.
Kinda late for that. If the game isn't a MMO, why make it always online? Just to see a bunch of people on the map? Also, their excuse that big updates wouldn't bring back a lot of people doesn't make sense. They've said they wouldn't make big updates even when the game was till popular in early access.
I'm so glad I noped out of this game on launch and got a refund after maybe 15 mins.
0:35 part of the reason why I HAVEN'T considered coming back is because there are no large scale updates.
1:50 "Is Temtem an MMO", I'd say barely, they forced MMO grind, etc., onto a single player game given their unwillingness to do any real major updates be they paid expansions, or whatever, this has particularly harmed the breeding system, as you have both massive costs to gurantee the highest stats from each parent stay AND the fertility system, and that particular combination as someone who enjoys breeding and raising monsters in these types of games, hurts the system a ton, either the costs would need to be reduced or the fertility system would need to be reworked.
5:32 Unless the DLC Tems are wildly more powerful then the base game ones this would be a non-issue, TemTem is already pretty lethal for a Monster Tamer, I'd argue in some cases like when fighting General X it's harder then a SMT/Persona game, and that series could be said to be pretty infamous for it's highly lethal bosses, there are ways to keep the playing field even such as having an option to disable DLC Tems if one player doesn't have the DLC or simply just balancing them with the fact in mind that they'd also be facing base game Tems, it doesn't have to perfect it just has to be good enough to keep the playing field relatively even.
9:31 Making premnium content more accessable a well as previous battle passes accessable is a good change even if they didn't choose to remove MTX.
Overall however their statement feels half hearted and like they are trying to shift a ton of the blame off themselves, with multiple narratives being spun, so I'm gonna take what they say with an entire quarry's worth of salt.
lol They banned me for use a macro to hunt lumas 2 years ago. After hearing this adding micro transactions into a supposedly "MMO" game I already knew the Devs were going to destroy their own game. They ruined the game by making lumas nearly impossible to hunt for an excuse for Saipark….. Yeah the same Dev team causing a split in the player base. Not surprised one bit. Not even a true MMO its just an RPG with co -op play if anything.
Honestly it seems they had the game made but in regard to postgame release and content they were hit with decision paralysis so they delayed and just did adjustments to wait out any final decisions. At least they addressed their faults and are trying to mitigate the issues that needed to be ironed out. This feels more honest response at the very least.
Yeah, no. They are apologizing, but also not taking any blame. Seems like they realized the damage and just want to minimize it, so it won't affect their future games too much.
As a developer I feel a bit bad for the devs. Most MMOs, or always online games eventually shut down because it's impossible to keep up with server costs forever. I think they severely underestimated the finances needed to have an always online game, with no plan for when the user base eventually dwindled. I don't think there is any malice here, just their inexperience and mismanagement with trying to claw their way to make money somewhere. Arguing about what is an MMO or MMO-lite isn't the issue. Tem Tem plays like an always online service, and with that comes expectations.
The battle pass was 100% the reason I’ve never even looked at the game excited to finally check it out. Full price games don’t need battle passes.
The Kickstarter does NOT say the scope is not at the MMO scope. It mentions nothing about MMO Lite. It DOES say "Massively Multiplayer" and "Online" MULTIPLE times.
Also the fact they decided maling new content for their live service game "wouldnt bring back players" despite that very thing being what players saying is what would bring them back and are telling potential new players that is the biggest con about starting TemTem all without actually trying or seemingly even polling their fanbase is ludicrous. Especially when the 2 biggest things that definmade me deice NOT to return and NOT to support anything crema does is 1). No new content on a live service game & no new mons on a monster taming game. and 2.). The absolute Crema had a meltdown, doubled down about it, did a "YouTuber Quality" apology, lied, continously blame the players for the failures of Crema and TemTem, and findamentally not knowing how to make a sucessful MMO (or MMO-Lite or whatever), how to make a a successful monster tamer game, or how to make a game and game community that gives a rats ass about it's players.
Congrats to Crema, not releasing content and alienating fans is definitely how you NOT bring back players. I hope Crema never releases a successful game again. Nobody should support them. 😤
Temtem private server going to be cool one day y
Any online only game is either an mmo, or a game wanting to monitize like one.
Their only two options if they want to save their rep are add an offline mode, or maintain their game like an mmo
I really wanted to try TemTem when it was new and never got around to it. If the drama can subside and cease I may still give it a try though I'm not sure if there would even be many players. As long as the game doesn't require other players to finish whatever story there may be (effectively being single-player story) I would probably still play it.
Edit: I should have said this too initially, but I would hate to buy the game for it to be shut down briefly after, that's another reason right now I don't want to buy it.
This announcement from them annoyed me so much, I contacted the advertisement regulators in my country about them and their advertising switcheroo they're pulling here. So we'll see how that goes.
Thanks!
I can't wait for the update in a year or two when temtem inevitably shuts down and fans are crying about it when they're the ones who refused to financially support the game and even lashed out in anger when the devs expressed they clearly cant support an mmo with no new sales or income of any kind. The mon community really wants to have their cake and eat it too
Blaming PVP for no paid DLC when the overwhelming majority of the player base care about PVE is such a cop out. I don’t trust this company anymore. I appreciate the coverage you’ve given this game Ed and am glad you’ve led me to greener pastures in the genre
