Temple of the False God: Not Good

  1. Yeah a niche card for decks that primarily ramps by getting more lands into play. What’s the name of the ability it goes with?…. Oh landfall. Yeah it’s pretty great in your landfall decks. You can create infinite mana loops with artifacts as well with it. I hate takes like this. Be objective and direct with what it does well and the reason it’s not generally good. I implore everyone to really dig into cards to make things work. Best people with your $20 jank deck and laugh 😂

  2. Great in lands matter decks. I still run it as a secondary Ancient Tomb with my Crop Rotation and (newly added) Archdruid Charm. Even have Yavimaya as backup so it can tap for mana. I love it.

  3. I hate when people make this stupid argument. There is nothing wrong with this card. Temple of the false gods is fine in a colorless or mono colored deck, but most people arent going to try to run this in a deck that runs any ultimatums. Yes its bad in your opener, but its a dine draw at any point in the game after. Dont let NPN tell you how tonplay the game. They are probably bad at it anyway.

  4. The odds of this being in your opening hand is so low. None of these argument’s made me want to replace this land. I only need 4 lands in play for this to work. That’s easy as fuck. And it gives me 2 colorless. Sol ring is busted but this is trash? Makes absolutely zero sense

  5. The same people who complain about temple of the false gods are the same people who will turn 1 mana crypt then sol ring, arcane signet and play a land and maybe some other things. Plus its good for paying taxes.

  6. I dont wanna say that TotFG is an auto-include, but I honestly believe that it is very much deserving of a spot in many decks. Just having the extra mana on a card where you would normally need to include another land is quite cool for some decks. you need to have the lands ofc, but when this cards sits around a lot because you dont have enough lands in play, then the land total is the problem, not TotFG. And the best part about it is, its cheap. Casual EDH players dont want to spend 200 Bucks on a mana crypt or 30-50 Bucks for nykthos or field of the dead.

  7. Ok, but what scenario do you get to fetch for a land and think "oh damn! I've got nothing to fetch for"

Like, pretty sure, the majority of players aren't THAT deep into the EDH, that they have the budget to have consistently awesome fetchable lands anyway

Y'all may have cool fetchable lands in every deck since it's your job/main hobby

But most players rarely fetch for something else than basics / only have bawler lands in a few of all their decks

  8. Hard disagree.
I cut pretty much all alternatives listed here because they are too expensive to purchase.
Sure, there are better options out there – but not at this price point!
If I'm bringing a slow deck, this goes in.
