Amazon’s new MMO is breaking more than the MMO mould. It is apparently also breaking Nvidia RTX 3090 GPUs. I would not advise playing this game even on other graphics cards until the situation is sorted out. In other GPU news we have an update to the AMD RX6600 release date rumors, as well as performance leaks showing the Intel Core i9-12900K smashing the AMD Ryzen R9 5950X in both single and multithreading performance. We also have a leak stating that Nvidia’s Hopper GPU is taping out soon.

long ago i remember people trying to show that software can harm hardware. because usually people would say "the worst that can happen is you have to reinstall everything". i think there was something that utilized a..flyback transformer(?) and attempts at hitting a resonant frequency in hard drives.

You often hear of EVGA being the best brand to get when it comes to Nvidia but I've heard of a few people's FTW3 cards burning up. One of them is a youtuber. He had the card for a few days and the thing started smoking while playing Halo MCC.
As for this game I don't know what to make of it. I figured GPU's these days have measures in place to prevent themselves from being damaged. Personally I don't think any software should be able to fry your new graphics card. That sounds bizarre to me.

Scary stuff. I have a RTX 3090 FE and played the game on max settings for about 4 hours. Didn't have any issues besides the frames dropping when you reached a town. Temps were staying around 60-68 while playing the game. I guess I was lucky but I definitely will not continue playing the game after seeing all these reports.
The better Alderlake does against Ryzen, the better Zen 4 is gonna get. I think AMD was holding back on Zen 4, but not when Alderlake crushes current offerings.

This is ridiculous and very likely incorrect.
The issue is with the EVGA FTW3 3090. There have been documented issues with poor transient response on the FTW3 VRMs. The power spike when launching the game is causing VRM failures. There are posts about it on EVGA's site and Reddit from months ago.

It’s interesting because from what I understand, the VBIOS on gpus sets thermal limitations so I’m having a hard time understanding why they’re frying from this game. Definitely need some more information
