  1. nobody seems to focus on the kingdom part of the title. what if there is so much malice underground that Ganon's plan was the take over the kingdom but just absorbing it? hence why the monsters have changed, and maybe powered up. like maybe in areas you havent removed the malice from the monsters are strong theyre practically unbeatable, but after the repel the malice back to the castle or plainly remove it, then its safer to travel the area, not that the monsters are weakened, but that they'd lose health now or something akin to that. the ground being poluted with malice would explain the deku tree theory of going into the air to escape being poisoned.

  2. I started playing Botw 1 again, checking every dialouge. Still more to do, but at the beginning King of the Hyrule tell us, that Ganon is rised from underground the Hyrule Castle. So im soo sure, that Link and Zelda was going under the Castle to stop next Calamity, but yeah something goes wrong, Zelda is missing, Master Sword is broken, Link got new Hand and new evil is awaken.

  3. While we haven’t seen this happen, is it possible that some landmasses have actually sunk into the ground? All the islands we see in the sky so far are unfamiliar. And it’s only Hyrule Castle we see lifted up by malice. What if the missing chunks of land are actually sinking into chasms underground?

There’s still a lot of mystery as to what is going on underground as well. I just don’t buy that the holes in the ground won’t be explorable.

  4. I think you're making an incorrect assumption about the artwork. you're assuming we're seeing the front of the castle. Because death mountain is in front of the castle in the artwork, isn't it a safer bet to assume we're seeing Hyrule from the north, looking south?

that would mean the "storm" in the artwork would be in or close to the faron region. which lines up with the footage.

  5. The ancient pillars likely just despawned. It's hard to gauge how far up Link is in the shot in the trailer, but objects in BOTWs world, and thus likely TotKs world, despawn based on distance from the player, regardless of which axis they're moving in. We don't see this happen often due to how ingeniously designed Hyrule is BOTW, as the natural elements, mountains, trees, lakes, ruins and so on are placed with enough variety but also precision to always be obscuring the horizon in some fashion.

As for the Deku Tree. Im not convinced it rose up. There's no evidence to say any of Hyrule is rising, people are just assuming so due to Hyrule Castle rising up.

  6. Death Mountain will definitely be an underground dungeon. In the book "Creating a Champion" the developers even designed the inside of the Death Mountain as a dungeon (in a very similar way to the from Oot, the Fire Temple). Also, the giant tower of the skies might be the Tower of Winds from The Minish Cap. The Tower of Winds was the building where the Wind tribe lived.

  7. I haven’t seen anyone else talk abt it but have you noticed that on the door that Link pushes open, it’s hard to see but there’s a sheikah eye right where he pushed. You can see it at the bottom as the door swings open

  8. It seems pretty clear the cave systems are connected under Hyrule and spreading malice. It’s possible the malice hit the root system of the great deku tree and killed him. Imagine how dark it would be to see the deli tree in the state of the other trees in the lost woods with a twisted hollow grimace and malice pouring from his mouth and eyes. 😮

  9. I'm still hoping for a huge underground network, one where we find multiple entrances to from multiple different areas but that are also connected by an underground Labyrinth. And that Labyrinth will be filled off Malice (that which Ganondorf released and it is now bursting from under Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain) , extremely Dark and dangerous to traverse with typical Ganon fodder but one creature in particular that will hunt you down when you try to traverse the Labyrinth, do kill able you won't be able to do so early game with your only option being to run and keep it at bay with "light". Personally a was thinking a Dead Hand redesign infused with Malice.

  10. Okay so does anyone remember the storm in skyward sword? When you went into it, there was a Leviathan?.. what if the storm that's happening in botw 2 has a Leviathan in it and they're bringing them back? Theres bones all over Hyrule.. they cant all be dead!

  11. I honestly believe the storms are there for progression purposes. As you go through the story, more storms will clear, allowing you to explore those new islands. Not sure how we will clear them, but that’s my guess.

  12. This isn’t really a TotK theory, and it isn’t even really a theory but it’s about BotW. In the Hyrule Castle outdoor soundtrack, you can hear what sounds like the marching of soldiers in the background. I’m not sure if this is an Easter egg, but nonetheless my head canon is the ghost of every soldier, knight, and royal guard who died protecting Hyrule during the great calamity are marching with you as you storm Hyrule castle.
