TDS Covers the Iowa Caucus | The Daily Show

Every election season, all eyes are on Iowa as its caucus kicks off the primaries. But why? Over the years, The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper, Ronny Chieng, and Al Madrigal traversed to Iowa in search of answers, fried food, and some good old-fashioned caucus fun. #DailyShow #IowaCaucus

  1. I’m a brown person who lived a few minutes north of Iowa in Minnesota. People treated me like an alien. They stared at me with big eyes, and walked hurriedly away. No one befriended me even when I broke my back. Not a nice place for brown and black folks.

  2. Why should any state be first? Living in Oregon, we have our primary in May, too late to have any effect. I would rather see a national primary, every state doing it at the same time, just like the general election.

  3. Iowa isn't going to get more diverse if they keep going first. The only image of the state is snow and freezing temps. To most Americans, that's all they know and think its year round. Maybe draw less attention to yourself this time of year?

  4. How old are the clips of Al Madrigal in this? I thought I'd seen almost every TDS clip going back to the 2016 Iowa caucus (I don't recognize any clips here that far back), but I don't think I've seen any of his before this.

Is he a new/ new-ish correspondent? Or someone who was around for a little bit some time ago and didn't stick?
