Talking 'Shazam! Fury Of The Gods' With Director David F. Sandberg

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (starring Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren, and Rachel Zegler) hits theaters this weekend. Director David F. Sandberg returns to the show to discuss some behind-the-scenes moments from making the film. We chat about Henry Cavill’s planned cameo in the first film, how his horror movie roots can influence even a big-budget superhero movie, the casting of Rachel Zegler, and more.

Also this week, we have to talk about the Oscars ceremony, one of the absolute best in recent memory. And, of course, we also have to announce this year’s Oscar Wager winner.

Stick around to hear our full spoiler-free review of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, but be warned we do dip into a few spoilers before moving on to this week’s BlendGame. See the timestamps below if that is something you want to avoid.

  1. I thought Shazam 2 is way better than the first. I will watch this one "a million times more" then the first one. Really liked this one. Fun, big heart, CGI worked for me. Everything was more put together while the first one had many so-so moments.

  2. Made it a New Years resolution to watch it on YouTube in 2022 and can’t stop I can’t say this enough the audio just doesn’t do this justice met them all in person and can’t say enough about this show thanks for finding time to do it

  3. Notification Crew West Coast Shift… More after the show 😅😊😊
The Oscars benefited from viewers returning to the theaters at it's greatest number since the pandemic; there is no arguing that the communal movie going experience has been lacking for good reason, and how much moviegoers enjoy it. This was definitely the most feel good Oscars of my lifetime.
Shazam is still a lot of fun. Scream 6, not so much.

  4. I thought the Oscar’s were wayyy too predictable if you’ve been following award season closely. And I thought too many of the wins seemed to be more for narrative reasons and who people wanted to see up on stage vs what actually deserved it. I’m not surprised James Cameron and Tom Cruise decided to skip the ceremony altogether and I don’t blame them. The award season is a lot more exciting when there isn’t so much groupthink and we can have more surprises at each award show.

  5. Let's come up with some annoying things, to show Mr. Hamilton how ugly the comment section is. I'll start: It must be really annoying for Sean that his age is an uneven number.

  6. I agree, loved the Oscar’s this year and so so happy for EEAAO sweep! Maybe just me but I would love a Rock and Emily Blunt host for next years Oscar’s! 😂 Love you guys! (Also I was pleasantly surprised by and loved Shazam two!)
