I always wondered why Genesis chapter 38 seemed to “interrupt” my favorite account of Joseph and his brothers. This week we learn about Judah and Tamar and how the Lord’s “authority” was transferred from Israel to the church and then back to Israel for the final “week”. Before Tamar (or the church) hands this “authority” back to Judah (or Israel) she is saved from wrath. Furthermore, Judah and Tamar don’t make contact during this exchange showing that there is no overlap in the possession of this “authority”. The church is nowhere to be found in this final “week”. Unlike last week’s video about Daniel and his friends, this story IS NOT one that I have ever taught to my Sunday School class!!

Then Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord killed him. And Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.” Genesis 38:6-8

But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the Lord; therefore He killed him also. Genesis 38:9-10

So she took off her widow’s garments, covered herself with a veil and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place which was on the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given to him as a wife. When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot, because she had covered her face. Then he turned to her by the way, and said, “Please let me come in to you”; for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. So she said, “What will you give me, that you may come in to me?” Genesis 38:14-16

And he said, “I will send a young goat from the flock.” So she said, “Will you give me a pledge till you send it?” Then he said, “What pledge shall I give you?” So she said, “Your signet and cord, and your staff that is in your hand.” Then he gave them to her, and went in to her, and she conceived by him. So she arose and went away, and laid aside her veil and put on the garments of her widowhood. Genesis 38:17-19

And they said, “There was no harlot in this place.” So he returned to Judah and said, “I cannot find her. Also, the men of the place said there was no harlot in this place.” Genesis 38:20-22

When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, “By the man to whom these belong, I am with child.” And she said, “Please determine whose these are—the signet and cord, and staff.” So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Genesis 38:25-26

  5. In a fraction of a second,the soul or consciousness leaves the body and goes to the sky.When the Rapture takes place,our physical body remains on the Earth,but our soul flies to the heaven!

     Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air!

    Means: Paul knew the origin of our spirit is not the brain nor the body! That’s why he said “who are left” means your spirit or Consciousness (not our physical body)will caught up in the Air!

    that flesh and blood cannot possess the kingdom of God!

    Means: we are not inside the body! We are spirit or Consciousness, and could travel without the physical body, physical body belongs to the earth, and will remain on earth!

  9. I have discovered that temptations appear to be stronger and greater in the church and in my own personal life lately because we are so incredibly excited for the coming of our Lord. Looking more and more for Him I think brings out the vengeance and greed of Satan that much stronger and so maybe I should say if and when I sin, my heart breaks that much Stronger. It already did anytime I sin and I know I still have my salvation, deposit, seal, ( also see John 10:28-28!!) it's just all amazing to see and feel a greater spiritual battle emerging, thus Proving all the more how close Jesus is to coming!! I hope this makes sense! Bless you….. and love you….long- time….

  11. Hey Carol, check this out… Soon as we believe in the Gospel, our names are written in the Book of Life! See Philippians 4:3! The ones in the Tribulation do not have their names written in the Book of Life! See Revelation 13:8. The only way we could go through the Tribulation, is first we must have our names wiped from the Book of Life!!! Plus, the OVERCOMERS in Revelation must flee the AntiChrist, not worship the Beast, and refuse the Mark! Soon as we believe the Gospel, we became OVERCOMERS!!! See 1 John 5:4-5!!!! I'm so excited about meeting our Lord Jesus Christ in the air, but I'm struggling with the never-ending wait. Trust me, the rapture can't come soon enough for me. I'm ready to GO! I must preface by saying that I am pretty sure a Christian author gets credit for this thought but I admit I don't remember the name, point is, I take No credit for this powerful thought: Psalm 27:4 says: "One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple."
    Image and Likeness are similar but not the same! An artist paints an image and produces a likeness of the image. Here's the beautiful truth; the More we Gaze at the glorious Image of Jesus, the More we believers take on His Likeness!!!
    What are you gazing at today; Jesus, or something else? You know Jesus Himself said in Luke 6:45, "… for the mouth speaks what the heart is full of."
    So, let us All enter in our prayer times, Often into our Lord's Holy Temple and let us linger there, long and meditative and Gaze at Jesus, (The Original Image!!!) so we begin to take upon us (in all characteristics) His Amazing Likeness and be beacons of His Light in this ever darkening world!
