  1. Dont understand people who constantly change bikes. They must be rich or something. Unlike me. I just feel dirty abandoning a bike.

I put 80k kms on a '13 1190 Adv and only recently sold it to upgrade to an 890. I loved that 1190 like no other. Phenomenal road bike and decent on dirt but way too much bike for my megre dirt talent. The 1190 was an upgrade on an '11 Tiger 800 XC but I still managed to put 40k kms on that in the two years of ownership. There was something about the TIger that didnt stir my loins.

I bought an '03 Tuono Fighter cheap and absolutely loved that bike. It started to fall apart after putting 20k kms on it. Bought a ''17 1290 Superduke to replace it and despite not really jelling with it like the 1190 I cant really bring myself to sell it.

  4. I think some people like building up bikes and then see the latest model thats "better" (better marketing) and then start a new build.

I think people have FOMO and want to be on the best bike possible.

I love my bike, not the fastest, or the best at anything, but it was cheap and Ive set it up how I want it. It never stops making me smile.

I think maybe those people haven't found a bike that makes them happy maybe?

  6. Go the Kilcoy Yowie! I heard former GP racer Garry McCoy has a cafe there, but turns out it's in Cooyar to the west. You should pop in there for a squiz Josh. He knew how to slide a Yamaha YZR500 2 stroke like no other!

  7. Yeah, I'm guilty. I have only been adventure riding for a few years so still learning what works for me off-road but still like a bit of B-road riding. I have a KTM 690 Enduro R and a 1090 Adventure R and really like both but 2 bikes (actually I have a 350 EXC-F too, sad I know) is a bit too much. Like an idiot, I have ordered a new 2023 890 Adventure R that I hope to get in a few weeks. I am selling the 1090, and awesome touring and Adventure bike but very hard work when it gets technical. Hoping the 890 is the keeper and I can handle it through the sketchy stuff so the 690 can go too. I prefer the Multi cylinder over a single like you. Love the sound and look of the T7 but the hooligan in me is drawn to the KTM after years of road riding Ducati's.

  8. Hey Josh. For me, this is one of your best. Great filming & narrative. I'm new to adventure riding and vlogging. We enjoy motorcycle camping too. We did Cape York mid -2022. Could you give me some tips on how to get good sound on a front of helmet GoPro? I'm struggling with making a decent video. Cheers.

  9. I love my T7 to bits. Iā€™m toying with pairing it up with a 701 after finding myself in a few spots where the weight of the T7 has just been too much. Will probably keep the T7 for as long as I can for the long easy days with a 701 for the long hard rides.

  10. Plan for my T7 is to keep it for its life span. I service and look after it in an almost obsessive manner. Thinking of servicing the suspension each couple of years, change bearings as needed, not forgetting to grease themā€¦. The rest is really just perishables like chain-sprockets and tyres. Will be interesting to see how many Kā€™s the CP2 can do?

  12. Hi Josh,
I use to change my road bikes every 3 or 4 years when I was younger to get the latest and greatest but now that I have the beast ( DR650 ) I really love the bike and it does what I want it to do. I got rid of my ST1100 which was a super heavy bike but smooth and comfortable to get the DR and itā€™s great.

  14. At 22.35 in the video ( approximately) on the bottom right of the screen, is that a go pro ? Actually, within 5 or 10 seconds after that mark. Not sure, just looks like something small and black and the right shape.

  17. Fun as always Josh, I was hoping you would find the gopro oh well. I don't plan on getting rid of my 990 ,love that bike but if I get to old to handle it then I'll probably pass it on.

  18. Nah, way too much spent customizing my T7 to part with it any time soon mate. Love the thing. Their reliable simplicity is hard to beat, especially these early models. The recent ones are succumbing to more techno upgrades & no other new bikes are available without all that shit I donā€™t want. With a little TLC & maintenance I tend to get really good mileage outa most things i buy, including all my tools of the chippy trade.

  19. I don't trade in unless she's getting old or there is something else I really want. A recent example would be for the 2023 890 adventure R. I made exception for that. That will probably be my last larger adv bike. Move to something smaller in the next 5 years or so.

  20. On getting a new bike, I have had my current bike (1972 Triumph TR6 Tiger) since 1997. But I have not ridden it in several years as it needs some work, and I donā€™t have a garage to work on it myself. So lately I have gotten the itch for off road riding, so I have the local Suzuki dealership building me a 2023 DRZ400s to get back to riding again (and retrain myself in off road riding). So it really depends on personal needs and goals, and plan on selling my Triumph as itā€™s just too much maintenance work for the limited riding time I have here in Alaska. And the DRZ I can ride in the light snow with a set of Mitas XT studded tires.

  21. After not riding for about 5 years I bought my first ADV bike in Oct 2020. It was a 2020 KTM 390 Adventure. Great bike and I loved it. Added all the mods I wanted and made it mine. But I felt it was a little under powered, lacking in suspension and ground clearance. I put just over 22000km on it and decided to trade it in on an Aprilia Tuareg 660. The Tuareg is sitting in my living room waiting on winter to end. Adding accessories and making it mine! Still have my 1982 CB750F SuperSport(no plans to ever sell). Had an '86 Yamaha Radian back in '92 that I sold…regretted selling so bought another '87 Radian…then sold that one too! Currently looking to buy an XR400r if I ever find a nice one. I am loyal to the bike when I have them but switch when the time is right. Lol

  22. Still have my 2009 Xt250 I bought new, 11000 miles mostly offroad. Bought a 2021 T700 new it has almost 9000 miles now. Bought a 2022 klx300 to replace the old Xt250 for rough trails and tough stuff. I like having the lighter bike as well as the t7. Need to sell the Xt250, though I won't get what she's worth in my eyes!
