Not that it matters much but the best way I've had someone explain American football to me was like this. The team with the ball has 4 tries to push it 10 yards. If they make it, their tries reset for the next 10 yards. If they don't make it, their 4th try is either to kick the ball down the field or try to push & if they fail, the other team gets the ball right there.
