  1. Everyone say the pickup truck was speeding but how do yall really know. The posted speed could have been 45mph. Its dark out & the pickup driver probably never seen the trailer. i work night shift & low light really hide objects from you.
That publix driver is fully at fault. We don't know if that pickup was distracted but from the video we knows whos at fault.. how can yall even say distraction played a part when the public clearly caused the accident.

  2. IMO, this is the Publix truck drivers fault. This is where the Publix distibution whse is located. Hundreds of Publix trucks turn left onto MG Drive every day here. There is no visible obstructions when looking west (left) on M.G. Drive while turning west (left) at NW Miami Court. Regardless of whether the guy in the pick-up was speeding, the Publix driver pulled out when the PU driver had the ROW. This wreck will cost Publix $$$. It will be settled out of court. Publix driver should've immediately been tested for drugs and/or alcohol too.

  3. from what i understand publix doesnt hire experienced truck drivers, they start in the distribution centers first then work their way to a driver position. if someone reads this that knows better please reply to this.

  4. You have a responsibility 1005 of the time while driving. Semi Driver expected the oncoming driver to yield as he had a big load. The oncoming driver never braked and was way over the speed limit. Toxicology reports will tell if either driver was under the influence.

  5. I am just blown away over the sheer stupidity in the comments, this is a cut and dry case. Semi truck is 1000% at fault here, there's no argument over this with that video, as a CDL driver, you have to be even more aware of this when vehicles have right of way or not with how fast they are going knowing how long you are, if you have pour judgement of this, you can't be driving something that big.

He's going down for a 3rd degree murder, case closed, now it's just up to prosecutors or a jury.

  6. The truck driver is completely at fault! This is what you call a rolling stop. The family of the deceased is going to get paid, just hope they have a reputable lawyer…. You Floridians have to get it together, you guys have the most fatal accident in the entire nation 😮

  7. cars are so soft and unsafe nowadays…a truck crushed like paper because of pedestrian safety. That many pedsetrians get hurt that they have to madate for vehicles being unsafe in vehicle to vehicle collision?

  8. Class A driver here….completely pick up fault, but how did the Semi not see the headlights approaching? Publix has AI cameras. A lawyer will dig deep. He better been good on hours, came to a full stop at stop sign, did he touch his phone or electronic tablet while at stop sign, was music too loud………

  9. If you chose to speed you should at least be mindful of other drivers. Flash your lights to let them know ur coming use your blinker so they know which way ur going and slow dowm when it doesnt make sense to speed like in groups of cars when there is really no way thru. Slow down for a sec when traffic opens up safely change lanes and increase your speed. Rinse snd repeat.

  10. 2 ROW’s Right of Way and Right of Weight. Doesn’t matters who’s in the right when the other guy is bigger. I drive heavy trucks and ride motorcycles. I try to make allowances for dummy’s in truck so I don’t kill them and I don’t argue with them on motorcycle . I don’t care if they go to jail if I’m dead.

  11. The Publix truck did not come to a complete stop, and the pick-up was not driving at a high rate speed, the video shows it was traveling at around 35 to 40 mph. The pick-up driver was probably on the phone, not paying attention, and hitting the trailer without touching the brakes. If the pick-up driver was speeding, it would have been moving a lot faster on the video. If the Publix truck would have come to a complete stop, this accident would have been avoided.

  12. Everyone in the comment section that says the pick up truck was in the wrong, none of you should have a drivers license. The pick up HAD the right of way (even if he was speeding). That semi HAD a stop sign and should of remained stopped. Semi is 100% at fault foe that death

  13. Attorneys for the pickup truck will still try to sue Publix even though the pickup truck is completely at fault because they know Publix has alot of money. Anyone driving behind a semi knows that those things crawl at low speeds. Plus the semi was completely in the intersection with the pick up hitting the back half of the trailer. Had the pick up truck been going the limit, the accident wouldn't've happened at all.

  14. So I see and frame 127 where they are removing the body because it's on the stretcher. Why did they switch out the tractor. For a vehicle that only moves trailers around in the distribution yard. Cuz that's a different tractor that's hooked to the trailer at 1:27 then the tractor that was pulling the trailer through the intersection. The original was a Freightliner. That's not a Freightliner in Pleasanton has one drive axle. The other one had two.
