  1. I guess I'm as old as Breen, I also remember seeing this magically appear on store shelves when it first came out..! (too big to fit in the spin-rack with the other comics, it was down on the bottom shelf, with the magazines) My 9-year old heart skipped a beat, I'm sure. Very sad to hear though that we won't be seeing the Retrospectives as frequently in the new year, these are always my favorite videos of yours, Wes, since I never bother with new comics anymore.
Thanks for all the great Retro videos, I've learned a lot from them.

  2. My parents bought this book for me as a gift after tonsil surgery in 1976. I was five at the time. No telling how many times I read this book and I have no idea whatever became of it, sadly.

  3. I remember my brother use to have this book. Sadly things happened thus he never kept it. However many years later (probably around late 90's or early 2000's) I was in a book store and I saw the reprint version with the one with gold frame and at that time it was on sale in which I instantly bought it. It's a nice classic book with very cool art. I love Ross Andru's art in this. I still have it along with the Uncanny X-Men / New Teen Titans.

  4. I read this in the last few years while on a Bronze Age Superman kick, and it was one of the big highlights for me during that time. It's just so fun, exciting, and clearly made with a lot of love.

  5. This was just fun. You can't make everyone happy, and they knew it was probably a one-off, so go nuts. This could easily be re-written for modern times and still work.
I love the art, especially the bright colors. It's a comic book. If you re-did say Batman v. Hulk, I don't know if it would work. Because the characters have changed so much. Batman would bring in his Scooby-Doo gang of sidekicks and, we'd have to acknowledge Tim Drake has a boyfriend, and Hulk is probably Ghost Rider now or something stupid.
I think Superman and Steve Rogers would get along really well. I don't know if Jonathan Kent served in WW2, but I think Cap would remind Clark of his father. With Spiderman the obvious team up is Firestorm. Conway wrote both, they are teenage superheroes, and Peter is not only a scientist but a teacher. I wish they would do more of these.

  6. wow, i remember having one issue of each crossovers mentioned here as a kid (hungarian published translations in Romania). Unfortunately i dont have them anymore, but i remember vividly how amazing the art was in each and every one of them, the Teen Titans vs the X-Men, i absolutely loved the art in Batman vs Hulk, and of course Superman vs Spiderman is just an absolute classic.

  7. I am old enough to remember this on the newsstand as well, the $2.00 price tag was enough my mom refused to buy it, even though I begged profusely for it.

  8. I was in third grade when this came out. It cost $2. I was afraid my mom wouldn't get it for me because of it's price. But after keeping another kid from stealing from me at school, I re read that thing so many times the cover fell off. Bought a replacement on eBay about 20 years ago and have the reprint in the Marvel/DC crossovers collection. Morgan Edge was really a key figure in that era and miss that.

  9. I was only 3 when this came out but saw it a couple years later and this book was a huge deal to me as a kid. It was like seeing McDonald's and Burger King team up to make a sandwich. Lol

  10. I enjoyed this retro comic review. Something that I like here is that everyone on the panel respects both heroes. And there was no negativity toward DC or Marvel. I love it. That's how it should be. Superman and Spider-Man are my 2 favorite superheroes. This crossover was excellent. Thanks for the review gentlemen.

  11. I love this crossover comic with DC and Marvel, featuring my favorite Marvel superhero and my favorite overall superhero. I love how Superman and Spiderman fight and work together, back before it was an overused cliché. I wish DC and Marvel could do quality crossover comics like this again, but that's no longer possible. Still, I think this is one of the best, if not the best crossover comic.
