  1. Come on. Godzilla is obviously a rip off of Jirass from Ultraman. Godzilla is just Jirass without something around its neck. How am I the only one to see the striking similarities?

  2. Green dinosaur attacking a city, proves nothing Toho may have took inspiration from the hundred movies of dinosaurs a city or town I deny that GODZILLA IS A KNOCK-OFF!!!

  3. When I was a VERY young kid, I remember seeing that scene where the artic giant destroys the bridge on TV and didn't see any footage after, and for years I had no idea where it was from. That scene captivated me because of how well it was animated. It wasn't until I rented a DVD copy of those Fleisher Superman cartoons during my preteens that I discovered it was from this cartoon!

I highly recommend checking out the rest of the Fleisher Superman cartoons. I am a huge superhero fan and those cartoons were SO influential to modern superhero cartoons. We wouldn't have the best Batman on TV without the Fleisher Superman cartoons!

  4. As someone that lists Superman and Godzilla as my favorite fictional characters, I’m happy to see you giving this short a little love… but still disappointed that we never got a real Godzilla vs Superman crossover.

  5. I wonder if this short is in public domain. Not the character of Superman itself, obviously, but the short. WB has historically not been very good at maintaining their copyrights over golden age cartoons, let alone ones they originally didn't make. Who hasn't come across compilation dvds with classic Looney Tunes and Fleischer Superman?
It would make the Artic Giant character public domain, since he isn't from the comics…

  6. You should review some of the episodes from The New Adventures of Superman from the 1960s or 1970s because he battles a lot of giant monsters that are similar to one's from other movies.

  7. It ultimately doesn't matter, because nobody went after Toho about Godzilla and being a supposed ripp off of this cartoon. A case that I don't think Toho would've won if Fleischer had.

Plus the Arctic Giant feels more like a possible inspiration, and Godzilla is different enough that Fleischer probably didn't see any point.

  8. You know if Superman had gone after the monster instead of having a conversation with Lois, he would have stopped it before it wrecked the dam and damaged the rest of the city.

  9. I don’t think it matter if Godzilla is a ripoff of Arctic Giant due to this film “in fact all the Superman films from Paramount” are in the public domain meaning their is no copyright infringement being made.
