  1. 🎆HAPPY NEW YEAR🎆to all of you lovely people, I appreciate you all so much! I hope your New Year is off to a great start❤💙To kick off 2023 I decided to dive into SUPERMAN (1978) and let me just say it did NOT disappoint🤩For a 70's movie I was thoroughly impressed by the effects in this movie and would have to say my favorite parts were getting to see superman gracefully flying around😄I loved Christopher Reeve's performance, so sincere and genuine, may he rest in peace. I had a blast editing this video so I really hope you enjoy it!

  2. Hi Laurenn. The scene where Clark first becomes Superman at the Fortress of Solitude and flies for the first time was met with thunderous applause(I was there at 10 years old). It was literally the first time a man flew convincingly in a movie and it was iconic. We also cheered together when Superman saved Lois and the helicopter….I still get chills watching those two scenes in this film.

  3. Glad you love The Fim. It's one of my favorites. If you to watch the other Superman Movies, there are 2 Version of Superman 2. The Version that made it to the Theaters, and The Donner Cut, that was made during the First Superman Movie, but Donner was fired and replace by the guy made the Film that made it to the Theaters. But in 2005, Donner came back and found his Footage and made his Donner Cut.

  4. Chris Reeves WAS and IS STILL my Superman! I grew up watching the movies! I fly in my dreams cause of his movies! Just the John williams Superman March brings me to TEARS! Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder (Lois), Doug Maclure (Jimmy), Jackie Copper (Perry), Ned Beaty as Otis and Gene Hackman as Lex…What a SUPER Cast..Not to mention Marlon Brando as Jor-el, and jack Larsen as The warden (Larsen was actually Juimmy Olsen in the Old 1950's series)
I hope you watch Superman II! It's the best one of the Chris Reeve movies and as someone alreadty commented, you should watch both the Regular Theatrical version AND the Richard Donner versions of II!

  5. Thank you for your reaction. I agree, the SFX in Superman are top notch. The tagline on the movie posters for Superman was "You will believe a man can fly!" and they delivered on their promise! But what made Superman a great movie is the performance of Christopher Reeve, he did such a good job of portraying both Clark and Superman. If you have the chance, Superman II is the continuation of this story and is a great sequel.

  6. Hey.. practical effects are special 😉

There's also some superb camera movement automation slit-scan style effects, like in the intro credits. Bit of a lost art these days, but looks so beautiful

  7. I can tell you the ones to avoid or at least be aware of:

    Superman IV.
    Batman & Robin (1997)
Green Lantern (Ryan Reynolds is good as Hal Jordan but the movie sucks).
    Batman V Superman Theatrical version.
    Suicide Squad (2016)
    Justice League (2017)

  8. OK. Story time about the Superman theme. Richard Donner went to go listen to what John Williams had done in a demo with the orchestra. Upon hearing the opening theme, Richard Donner jumped up screaming “Brilliant!” To everybody, interrupting the entire orchestra. Why? Go back and listen to the opening again. You can practically hear the orchestra instruments say “Superman” in the opening credits when the title card appears. That’s the genius of John Williams.

  9. I grew up watching this movie that came out 1 month after I was born. Watched it and dissected it 1000 ways. And i just noticed when Pa Kent was talking to Clark after he beat the bullies home…how his red button up shirt was opened in a way that his fruit of the looms undershirt looked like his Superman family crest. I know. Im 45 years late 😂

  10. I will never understand why some prefer Man of Steel over this masterpiece of superhero cinema.

As much as people claim Man of Steel deals with complex ideas and is epic, I watched it twice, but never felt the warmth or soul that this movie gives. This movie did not need a convoluted plot or messy fight scenes to succeed. Just passion for the material a great John Williams score, charisma, and an unashamed approach to the light-hearted touches of the character.

  12. OK, so if you're starting in on some of the older superhero flicks, I have a few suggestions for you, if I may:

'Superman 2'. Seems like a no-brainer, since you liked the first one. The sequel has more action, and gets a bit deeper into the Clark-Lois relationship.

The two Tim Burton Batman movies, 'Batman' and 'Batman Returns'. Not without their flaws, but immortal classics, nonetheless – amazing sets, great acting, great music. The second one is a particular favorite of mine.

'Batman: Mask of the Phantasm'. Technically, a spin-off of the '90's animated series, but don't worry; you won't miss anything by seeing this first. Some consider it the best Batman movie ever made; I don't know whether that's true or not, but it certainly comes close – it's certainly the deepest, in terms of exploration of his character.

'The Crow'. Dark, brooding, violent, tragic, gothy excellence. A relic of a vanished time when an obscure indy comic could not only get a movie made out of it, but have that movie be really, REALLY good.

'X-Men'. Fans of the franchise go back and forth on it; personally, I think it's great stuff.

'Danger: Diabolik'. OK, you probably won't react to this one, because no one ever does, but it's worth recommending, nonetheless, because it needs more love. A rare super-VILLAIN movie from the swinging '60's, with eye-popping visuals and scored by the legendary Ennio Morricone. Groovy, baby. Lots of fun.

  13. I saw this movie when I was 3 years old. It's my only memory from that age. I still remember sitting on my father's shoulders waiting in line which was wrapped around the theater twice 😂 My parents heard me humming the Superman theme for weeks afterwards.

  14. 9:16 The woman in the train with the dark suit and white hat is actress Noel Neill. She played the part of Lois Lane in the Superman TV series that ran from 1952 to 1958 (as well as two earlier movies, in 1948 and 1950, that led to that series).

  15. Superman II was filmed at the same time so it's really "part 2", and as good if not better than this one. Superman 3 and 4 are missable (although Richard Pryor is in 3 if you want to watch it just for him).

  16. “Equipment manager” is a job on a high school team given to non-athletic kids who want to participate— if the team members took care of those jobs themselves, he wouldn’t have a position on the team.

  17. 11:34 the source Krystal (tech) reacts to kryptonian emotion, Kal-El/Clark and because he’s feeling low/alone it triggers and calls to him, this Green Krystal is a source of unspeakable knowledges which exceeds anything of earth value.

  18. 11:58 he has to begin his training, to fulfil a prophecy of protection!! but in order to completely & embrace humanity, he must first separate himself completely from it, by firstly acknowledging his alien heritage, and secondly learning how to place himself within the human collective society by serving which is different than ruling!!! the Kent’s were actually the perfect starting block, as they showed him so much love!! how to be gentle, how to be humble and how to reflect the same love he was shown by them,

His abilities are of his bloodline the house of El, but it was the Kent’s that made him to be Superman.

  19. 12:41 so the Fortress of Solitude are constructed out of a Kryptonian crystalline material known a sunstone. these stones also harness high levels of knowledge and solar energy which superimpose the emotion of those (Kryptonians) which hold them/use them

  20. 14:11 the tri colours are the Standard representation of the ancient kryptonian constitution, the costume came from Krypton, made out of the swaddling blankets in the rocket. The question becomes even if Supes is invulnerable, how does his costume and cape stay unblemished?

I believe the comics at one point gave Kal-El an aura which existed very close to the skin which made his clothes as invulnerable as him. I believe the newest canon from DC Comics answers this with technology by giving him what amounts to a "battle suit" while maintaining the standard Superman branding.

  21. 16:40 so Alexander Luther comes from a very well renown family with high reputation and the owners of Luthercorp, this is explained in the Smallville series which is actually on par with this movie, so at one time Alexander and Clark are actually friends after Clark saves his life, things then quickly developed as Alexander/Lex developed an interest into Clark, and he started investigating him privately,

Anyway years later Alexander murders his father and becomes c.e.o of Luther corp changing it to Lexcorp!! his fathers company world wide was worth billions, as they were involved in plant machinery but more so Pharmaceutical industry, under Alexander/Lex they started working on meteor fragments which were found after the meteor showing in Smallville!! there was story of ship which came down with it, “Clark’s ship” Lex uses the green fragments (Kryptonite) peices of Clark’s home world soaked in kryptonian radiation making it deadly to Superman! Lex then begins works on human hosts, cloning, and other illegal activities, bride, murder, terrorism and the list goes on, in freak mishap Lex loses his memeory and remembers nothing of the previous 10 years including his one time friendship with Clark Kent, as the authorities F.b.i and c.I.a get involved Lex has to abandon his family company and go into hiding, which is where he is at this moment in the movie!!! based on his crimes against humanity he’s one of the worlds most wanted men.

  22. 33:01 so the Kryptonite is fragments of his home world “krypton” these fragments absorbed such a high intensity of radiation from the red sun “Roa” which was obviously the cause of its destruction!! so now in the presence of a yellow sun in complete different galaxy!! the compression within his molecular density is firstly flushing all the solar cells from his body, effectively rendering him defenceless as baby, and secondly because of his kryptonian biology the radiation from the kryptionite will pollute him, and certainly with enough exposure effectively cooking him from the inside out, killing him.

  23. Kinda refreshing to see someone not knowing Lois doesn't know Clark is Superman. These days, it is like not knowing who Luke's father is. I had a similar thing happen to me decades ago. I was dating a waitress that had only seen me with a beard. One day I decided to shave it off. When I sat a table to be waited on, I heard my girl say to another waitress "Is anybody gonna wait on that guy?". The other waitress said "I'm pretty sure he is waiting for you." It even took her until I spoke to recognize me. 😂

  24. This is Superspeed!!! Superman can move outside of time! and as Einstein’s theory of relativity goes, time is effected by gravity & light!! Superman is applying or using both his gravitational magnetism together with speed of light to alter time

Jor-El .. Kal-El/superman’s father knew certain abilities will make him virtually a God!! and advised him against using them!! but what happened was Jor-El never anticipated his son would fall in love with a human.
