Super Paper Mario – Episode 21: Video from Hell

In today’s episode of the “Super Paper Mario” playthrough, we unlock Luigi as the final playable character, find Luvbi, and get sent back to the Land of the Living, only to find ourselves back in the Underwhere after placing the newly-restored Pure Heart into the Heart Pillar and entering the door to Chapter 7.

Before saying anything else, I really want to apologize for the poor audio in this video. Here’s what happened: after recording the last episode, I went to use the bathroom, but when I returned, I forgot to lower the mic on my headphones. And unfortunately, by the time I realized that there was an issue with the audio, I had recorded the gameplay for the rest of the chapter and had saved over my file. Thankfully, from the next episode onwards, the audio is normal. As such, I really appreciate your patience regarding this little hiccup.

After sinking to the bottom of the River Twygz, which features the creepiest music in the “Mario” series, we find Luigi cowering behind a rock and unlock him as the fourth and final playable character.

In terms of skills, like in many other “Mario” games, Luigi can run faster and jump higher than Mario, but in exchange, he doesn’t come to a complete stop after running. As such, I find myself not playing as Luigi as much as I’d like to because it can be a bit frustrating to do precise platforming with him. However, thanks to Luigi still having the super jump move from when he was Mr. L, he’s unrivaled when it comes to reaching high platforms and defeating airborne enemies.

And thanks to Luigi’s jumping abilities, we’re able to find Luvbi, which in turn prompts Jaydes to send both of the Mario Bros. back to the Land of the Living, though not before returning the Pure Heart from the Sammer Kingdom to us, which she has restored to its original form.
So with the pure heart in hand and our Pixls once more by our side, we place the Pure Heart in the next Heart Pillar and unlock the penultimate chapter, which takes us right back to the Underwhere. And on top of that, Jaydes once more tasks us with dealing with Luvbi, only this time it involves us escorting us to the “Mario” universe’s equivalent to Heaven while she proceeds to savagely roast Tippi whenever she gets the chance.
