July is the most vibrant period in the Qinghai Lake area, but it’s also a time when new lives face the test of life and death. A two-week-old Przewalski’s gazelle who lost her mother was laying starving on the grass, while a fox prepared to hunt in the distance. Seeing this, Yuan Fengkun, a wildlife rescuer from the province’s Wildlife Conservation and Management Station, brought the gazelle to Wu Yonglin, the head of the protection station for Przewalski’s gazelle in Qinghai Lake National Nature Reserve to take further care of it. In the past 20 years, Wu has rescued and taken care of some 30 calves that lost their mothers and all are living in good condition at the station.
