Brush fires that are ripping through the Hawaiian island of Maui have caused Governor Josh Green to issue an emergency proclamation and call in the Hawaiian National Guard. NBC News’ Maura Barrett reports on how a passing hurricane is affecting wind gusts and interfering with the rescue efforts of those trapped by the fire.

With all the wildfires, volcanic eruptions, etc., soon the government will have to start evacuating some of the Hawaiian population to the west coast. That will reduce Hawaii’s representation in the House. Could have political consequences.
