While trying to cross a sloped and snow covered road, this Toyota Tacoma slid off the low side and over the edge. The driver hiked out and a got a motel room for the night, and the next day I picked him up and we headed out to get it. The tracked @Jeep had no problems getting into position on the snow, and between the @harborfreight winch and @YankumRopes, it was a very simple recovery of
pulling him back onto the road, then towing him out.

Tell him to be careful Casey. I lost both grandparents shortly after slip n falls on ice, broken hips then the downhill cascade within 3 months.

Not sure if you know but they make boots with builtin retractable spikes. My mother wears a pair that you can switch from spikes or no spikes in seconds. They are permanently attached to the boot on a hinge so you will never forget them. Stay safe.

Hey Dad!, stay off the ice. I know a lot of people say it but one of the best parts of your shows is watching the customer's reaction when you tell then there is "no charge".
I know it's hard to give up the things that you have been doing all your life, like walking on ice. But, sometimes you have to listen to your kids. At least change the WAY you do things for the kids peace of mind. Stay safe "Dad."

keep the spikes in your truck Casey. I keep mine in my car all winter long. I'm an ice fisherman and i dont know how many times I've forgotten my spikes so now they get stored in my vehicle! lol
suggestion — instead of using a fixed camera to film a going or coming shot, use your drone in hover mode, or sitting on a stum for stability. After the scene is taken, call the drone to the jeep down the road and retrieve it there. Saves time and aggravation. Make sense?

I hope your dad is doing okay, my father took a spill like that and ended up in the ER with a concussion. That is nothing you want to play around with also I make sure that all of my vehicles have a pair of these ice cleats in them. It is better to have them and not need them to need them and not have them. They are no good on the porch if you are not home when need them.
