Small correction: Ds3 STR didn't raise Elo, but Elden Ring CNT STR DID increase equip load, so it's still a "nerf" from what could have been. Anyways what do you think of the changes? Will you remain faithful to STR? let me know!
Honesly, the more Elden Ring videos I see lately, the more I think that early playable versions of the game were a mistake.
At first everyone was excited, which was cool. Some issues mentioned here and there, but that's what "alpha" versions are for.
Now all there is is "Oh, they broke the mechanics, this now sucks!", "Don't pick this class, it sucks!", "This playstyle isn't worth it, don't go for it", "This stat is OP!".. all before the majority of players could try the game out for themselves, discover what game has to offer, without the constraints of such pre-formed opinions, following the meta that was created way before they had a chance to hop in.
I think it'd be really cool if strength raised charging speed of abilities akin to the casting speed of dex. Letting you charge heavy attacks or weapon arts faster.
The less fall damage from dex is next to nothing. At 99 its on negates like 30 damage lol
So I've never played strength builds. In fact I went Anris and Mangrubs staff with all of the sword spells and leveled luck for my ds3 build. I do feel like if they're going to do this though, why not take the extra dex scaling stuff like cast speed and the horseback stuff and put it in mind/arcane… whichever one is more useless.
bring back dex giant dads lol
4:15 Since when could you parry a two handed Ultra Greatsword?
Strength/Equip load was too much
Now it's too little.
STRENGTH = Damage and great shield prerequisites.
DEXTERITY = Damage, Bow prerequisites, fall DR, and Mounted Poise, cast speed
SOLUTION = Give Strength mounted poise. Makes more sense than DEX anyways.
They’re going to promote Elden Ring Esports so hard dude…….. 🙂
I wonder if equip load ties to both STR & END, similar to Nioh. In Nioh 1 & 2, STR increases equip load a little bit IIRC (18 soft cap), or maybe they can put some STR requirements to equip heavier armour.
Closest to giant dad in ds3 (that I got) was a vitality build with raw/fire/deep infusions with bundles and shid. Not the best and far from a true giant dad, but it was fun
There is only one source of this change, it may be bogus ( really hope so )
Elder ring Big. Disappoint
The more I think about it, I’m more fine with the stat change because it’s kinda cool to have the feeling of “why roll when I can tank the hit to the face?” 😂
What if dexterity and strength both give equip load but strength gives little more.. btw tio much poise ruins the game, we don’t need that shit.
I just hope that maybe some armors have stat requirements, they dont need to be that high even but it would solve a lot of the issues with pure dex builds having 8 strength and wearing stone armor
I feel like they should have kept strength as it was and maybe add iframes or fractions of iframes to rolls with Dex increase. That, or some sort of roll speed scaling. Strength=slow and tanky. Dex = fast and agile.
Eh, I’m still going STR/FTH.
They should leave that be with slight alteration like endurance improving equip load greatly but str also doing that to lesser degree
The problem with this is that based on ds3 you have it easier to wear heavy armor with sex weapons than with strength because they are lighter.
Dex build usually had the best armor not strength.
A good way to fix that would be to give strength additionally to endurance a smaller scalping if load capacity as well.
Or you just reduce the weight of strength weapons but that would look odd.
3:55 that is the problem that marred DS3. Don't try to balance a mostly single player game according to some multiplayer bs. That exactly made ds2 so good, it had everything viable and it didn't feel like they balanced it around PvP.
Ok so… go dex and endurance with some faith/int for a battle mage 🙂
It sucks they nerfed strength and did at least give it something else. I think if anything it should have stagger on horse over dex cause that makes more sense over dex stopping straggler in horse.
I am just gonna pick vagabond (cause I don't like wretch) and roll with it and see how meta works out. Not gonna care much about meta in the first playthrough
why do you talk as if strenght raised equipment load in dark souls 1 and 2, we fortunely got rid of the stupid vitality stat, spltting stamina and equipment load in 2 was a bda dea, makng both stats less usefull to invest into
Seems like Dex builds have no downside though. How is that fair?
Legends Never Die
Ngl outside of pve strength is gonna be pretty trash if what we see now continues into the full release. It has high damage but it doesn't matter if you can easily dodge the attacks :p
I think that the best way to balance this would be, NO weapon scales only off Dex. I mean if you think about it, any weapon you can swing, the stronger you are, the more damage it should do, right? So I'm thinking that while Dex weapons would require a minimum Dex to function, and you get some damage bonus based on maxing Dex, a build that ignores Str entirely would be much lower damage than one where you focus heavily into both. That way, Dex is sort of a supplemental stat, you can max it for Dex builds, but will need to build Str to be high damage. You can invest in Int to be high magic. It seems both logical and balanced to me.
I play dex int hybrids woot
I’m glad powerstancing is back so now I can go ooga booga while dual-wielding chicken drumsticks
