  1. What a load of unrealistic bullshit. First they bomb the place to smithereens, then they discover a fully functional and flyworthy F14 fueled and armed and ready to start. No walkaround check, just jump in and go. This is Hollywood film industry at its worst.

  2. Although it's not stated in the movie, IMO it is implied that the enemy in the Top Gun Maverick is indeed, Iran. Iran is the only country in the world that still operates the F-14, US' biggest enemy in the Middle East, owned many nuclear reactors, and also has mountainous, green, and snowy landscapes aside from vast desert landscapes.

  3. Fun fact. The F14 is the only fighter jet ever that had the capability to go 90* vertical immediately upon wheels upโ€ฆ. and accelerate. Nothing before or since can claim that same statistic. Soโ€ฆ. The newer fighter jets arenโ€™t designed for air to air anymore. So the pilots wouldnโ€™t be privy to the experience of an F14 at full burner standing straight up at wheels upโ€ฆ hence why Rooster is quite surprised at what happens.

  5. F14 canopies don't bounce up and down when you taxi like that, kind of made it seem fake as hell and I'm surprised they didn't have him take off roll it 90ยฐ and go through the hanger they still could have had him break the nose wheel off if they needed a reason for the tomcat to crash on the carrier deck in the last scene as the f-14s nose gear retracts much slower than the rear wheels but I just think it would have been a more I'm still the best pilot in this Navy type of stunt for Maverick along with maybe buzzing the tower on the full afterburner climb out.

  6. Ayup! George Lucas deserves a writing credit. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Sneaking through the Death Sta… er enemy base to activate the esoteric piece of equipment so they can escape in the beloved hunk of junk. ๐Ÿ˜

  7. Damn it. They really did Avenger my ass.
I legit didn't see this becuase I figured there was no way it wouldn't be a stupid cash grab. God damn it all. Just the key shifts when Rooster says "It's so old", underlining a joke of a line with the impact of all the people who saw the first one feeling like they were back with something familiar, like a cockpit that had been waiting on them since they left.

Fuck you movie. Now I have to buy a theatre to see this in IMAX like I should have.

  8. Surely the F-14 wouldn't be that 'out of date'. Iran still uses them and has upgraded their fleet with modern equipment…

The F-14 here (interior) looked more retro than what we saw in the original Top Gun ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Okay so hear me out. Right now is the perfect time for Charlie Sheen to make a comeback and make another "Hot Shots!" So picture this scene with Charlie Sheen. They need to make a a getaway just like this one. They try to start it and it makes sputtering car noises. Topper looks across the runway and see's a perfectly good 5th gen fighter. "Says I have an idea" looks in the cockpit. "The keys are in it!" The next scene shows them hooking jumper cables from the 5th gen stealth fighter to the jalopy jet. After nearly flooding it they spray carb cleaner in the intake and get it started "alright let's go!!!," and take off in a big plume of smoke. Shows them barely flying away with the perfectly good advanced 5th gen fighter still on the runway. "HOT SHOTS! Part 3. The later years!"
