  1. The whole audible thing reminds me of a thought I had the other day and web novels on sites like royal road

Amazon/Audible find successful web novels then make a deal with the author requiring things like taking down the chapters that get published into books/audio books among other things

I think it would be amazing if someone like you Sanderson who has the money and the resources offered at least a couple of authors like this editing and audio book creation help IDK just a random thought I had the other day and this video reminded me of that

It bothers me that Amazon is using sites like royal road to find books that have a proven track of being popular and then using money to buy the novel and force the author to take it down

  2. While I commend and respect the Audible choice, I would have appreciated the news in advance. I would have upgraded my pledge. I had expected to be able to use my credits which I expressly saved for the secret books.

  3. Not really looking forward to hollywood getting its filthy hands on Sanderson's works.
Really hope you consider getting at least some stuff animated in Japan or some other place where they actually respect the source material and creator.

  4. I really appreciate all this information but I'm still really confused. I'd love if anyone could share with me what apps they are going to use? I'm guessing these are all apps Brandon is describing. Also what devices they will be using? I don't mind investing in a device that will make using the ebooks and auto books usable. I don't know if it matters but my phone is a Samsung. Thanks in advance for any advice

  5. I think Lux was neat but its standard of quality was lower than usual (no doubt because you didn't actually write it) which isn't meant to be an attack on the author who did, it just wasn't quite up to what I was used to, particularly considering how good the first trilogy was. I think the book definitely didn't live up to its potential in several areas, Languish for instance was a fascinating character who wasn't utilized fully and the titular city, Lux didn't feel very lived in the same way Newcago, Babilar and Ildithia did. Overall I definitely want to see more from the Reckoners universe, but hopefully the next title will have more meat on its bones.

  8. Your books are worth going elsewhere for! Plus, as an avid Audible user, thank you for bring attention to the Audible issue! I will definitely put in more though to where I purchase audiobooks!

  9. I'm always wary of novels being turned into movies, but I have hope that Sanderson and Rothfuss' work ends up being well-made when/if they are adapted to the silver-screen.. (Though some things are impossible to capture outside of the written word.)

  10. As a legally blind, long time fan (I first started reading Sanderbooks back in 2008!) I'm so glad that Sanderson is addressing these issues in the audiobook industry and supporting companies like Speechify! I still remember back in 2016 at my 3rd Sanderson signing when he signed a book plate for the laptop that I used for listening to his audiobooks (his idea, not mine!), the respect and support that he has consistently showed for the disability community over the years is truly wonderful.
