  1. I appreciate the well thought out fleet at the start, and i wish the game balance moves towards that in the near future.
But i really feel like that will be way way too much defence / logistics for what any real threat scenario would be "in the real game".
I think the vast majority would opt for three mining wings rather than just 1, to maximize profits (since it is a mining op).
The Kraken alone provides enormous defensive possibilities. And it feels awesome to have lots of Hornets, Ares and Buccs, but until we see the future balance of the game, if we were to judge it on Today, it'd all just be Arrows and nothing else (which is boring, i agree). The buccs wouldnt stand a chance, nor would the Hornets. And dont get me started on the Inferno, which is my favorite ship in the game, but also next to useless against anything smaller than Connie size.

But hopefully Yogi's hints on the upcoming balance changes for medium / heavies will bear fruit.
And please god let them also include changes to the Ares…. Ion is meant to be anti-big ship, so what is Inferno there for? Anti-cutlass? Come on.
My point is just, i LOVE fantasizing about these kind of fleet setups, but then "reality" always strikes my mind and i'm like, 8 Arrows flown by great pvp'ers would eat up that entire fleet. (minus cap ships ofc). That kinda puts a damper on the excitement.
But lets hope the game balance does move away from "Arrow-meta" as soon as possible.
Whatever drama may come from the light fighter pvp streamers, hopefully CIG keeps strong and dont deviate from the plans.

  2. I would do a mix of both fleets. Once the nautilus is done laying down mine it could still be used as a combat ship, she can punch. Also I would still use the Perseus along with the Odyssey, Expanse, 2 prospector wing.

  3. If you are supporting another org that is already trying to mine, wouldn't you need more expanses instead of prospectors and moles? Also you guys seem to completely ignore ROC mining, which I thought was interesting, given you have no idea what minerals will even be available on the planets and moons in Pyro.

  4. Awesome concept !! The tool is great, but your idea of companion show gives it an even cooler dimension. Seriously, this is going to be a must-have tool for any orgs and strategists.
And it kinda makes me wonder about the "next step"…
Right now it's indeed a viewer, and it does it wonderfully.
But for people who don't know all the ships' spec by heart (nor who can't follow how they will come to change) an awesome feature would be a short summarized ship ID card. Having it appear when right-clicking on a ship for example, to give crew number, and maybe other specs like weight and weaponry, pretty much the data on the official ship matrix. One awesome feet that it could give (but that's the next-next step maybe) is a stat view, adding up the numbers of ships selected, to have weight, fire-power, minimum speed, optimal crew, and so on for the entire fleet. It would be a fleet-analyser more that a fleet-viewer, but it would be such an awesome complement to the show you just did, and give even more elements for fleet-tuning.
These are just thoughts for the long run, but seriously, the tool you built is already awesome and super functional. A big thank you to put it in the hands of the community !

  5. While I like the defensive aspect of Ender's fleet, it feels like there is not enough mining potential there to actually make a profit for the amount of ships being operated.

The main problem with Grim's fleet is that it's going to rely on the smaller ships to get around which you're burning money/time or only able to operate in a small sphere of influence.

I think a happy middle ground between the two is the way to go.

  6. For Grims Fleet or maybe in General, I would consider to add a A2 not for Bombing but as a Gunship and Carrier with Merlins or Archimedes in it.. when those Miners are coming back to the Kraken, you can use them to man a the A2 and the Archimedeses !

  7. I love this. Great video. I’m confused about the initial setup, because why are you guys bringing mining ships when I understand you are being hired to protect a mining org? Regardless, it’s a great scenario.

Here is what I would do:

    Strike Force Alpha (26 players)
    1 Kraken
    4 Hornet F7C
    2 Gladiators
    2 Cutlass Blacks
    4 Cyclone MTs

    Strike Force Bravo (9 players)
    1 Liberator
    2 Hornet F7C
    1 Gladiator
    1 Cyclone MT
    1 Nova

    Strike Force Charlie (9 players)
    1 Liberator
    2 Hornet F7C
    1 Gladiator
    1 Cyclone MT
    1 Nova

    Medical Response Team (4 players)
    1 Apollo Medivac

    Electronic Warfare Team (2 players)
    2 Terrapins

    50 players total.

    Notes:

This provides a mission configurable strike force that can divide itself into multiple warzones across a system.

Why the Hornet F7C – because the Kraken and the Liberator will have the space to carry the different modules the F7C can equip. From direct combat, cargo, e war and stealth.

Why the Gladiator – The Gladiator is also planned to be mission configurable. It’s torpedo bay can be swapped out for bombs or cargo.

The Fighter Wing is a total of 8 Hornets and 4 Gladiators. These can be divided into various strike teams or put into one big punch. From patrols, strikes on land and aerospace targets, this can do everything good enough.

Why the Cutlass Black – Because it’s mission configurable. It can carry 2 Cyclones with 3 crew each. Or the 6 man ground tram can just ride the dropseats. It has tractor beams and can carry 42 scu of cargo. Kind of squishy, but it has teeth too.

The Liberators have a 3 man ground team built into it. They can take the Cyclone for general work. But the beauty is the Kraken can offload it’s 6 -12 man infantry team onto the Liberator, and then the Liberator ground team can transition to the Nova for more ground support for the bigger team.

This is a 50 man org that’s trying to account for protecting a mining org that’s running simultaneous operations in space and on planetary surfaces. This force can divide and conquer to accomplish this.

If I had to drop assets to factor in a mining element… I’d start with dropping 1 liberator team and half the electronic warfare team. Giving me 10 players to focus on that specific mission. But no more.

  8. what about the polaris ? it can carry eclipse, have number of turret support the kraken, fast enough to escort mining product from refinery ship's cargo in it's hangar bay with shield and shell to make quick return to the fleet or turn off it's systerm park near some asteroid ready for supprise reinforcement, it have med bay for emergency or backup. and most at all 28 size 10 torpedo do strip any capital ship shield to zero
