Starfield – Part 44 – Cruise Control

Starfield continues, as we infiltrate a luxury cruise ship, looking to conduct a little bit of blackmail, and a tiny bit of theft, and we’re definitely not going to kill anybody or blow up the ship, unless it’s absolutely necessary…

  1. Am I the only one who has completely lost interest in this series and checks every week to see if it's over yet? Nothing on Jon; he makes it as interesting as humanly possible… I just find this game and story line wholly uninspiring. How about some Stelaris next??

  2. Yes, Jon, what is up with a space cop telling you not to murder people? Especially after your first undercover mission only had one little tiny murder, which you only missed a couple of opportunities to prevent? It's truly shocking behavior! 🤣

/s, of course. Can't wait to see how the rest of the undercover missions play out!

  3. go back through the chain of people who put you in touch with the fleet & dig up evidence & you can fill that fancy brig up. Think like a policeman while dealing with lawbreakers you might meet in the future.

  4. Day 22/1230 of requesting Jon play a game nobody will remember, like Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim. Did Jon do Sid Meyer's Pirates? If not then that that's the mini suggest of the day.

  5. Day 19 of requesting _Age of Mythology_.

Since this episode's all about impersonating villains, committing crimes, and acts of intense violence in space I thought I'd pull out one of the best books I've got on my shelf. X-Wing: Wraith Squadron By Aaron Allston is no longer considered canon, but it's incredibly popular. The ragtag band of misfits fighting against post-Imperial warlords have more depth and heart than the majority of the sequel trilogy, and if you haven't read it I say you haven't really lived.

  6. Star Control date 0015. I almost lost my mind and requested for Jon to play Star Control 2 on a Spiffing Brit upload. Am I becoming so single minded in my quest that I'm ignoring simple things like "all British people are not the same person"?

    Probably.

But if that's the sacrifice I have to make. I'm going to tell EVERY British person that Jon should play Star Control 2. Because it's every British person's favorite game. They just don't know it yet.

  7. Anything you try to report will boil down to your word against mine. And since I work for UC security, who do you think people will believe? Me, a random security detail on a cruise liner, or you hero of the UC vanguard, decorated veteran, class 1 citizen, actual friend of the president? I think we both know the answer, so back off!

  8. So I had a thought. This game, in the start, said it was set in a time where basically anything that could be discovered were discovered. You are entering into a known star cluster.

That I have no problem with.
What I do have a problem with is that there is no data bank or public record where you can go and mark out inportant locations.

Skyrim have the war maps where if you tap a banner you get the location on your map. Oblivion had the mayor places already discovered for you.

  9. "Tim" (the guard at GalBank who lets you in and then leaves) was actually threatened by the mercenaries, he's not screwing you over, he's more like… their hostage and he ran away from them. If you have the "empath" trait (I picked that), he will reveal this information.

  10. unfortunately Bugthesda made piracy and smuggling severely underwhelming both play wise and economically
like You find the smuggled goods and they say they are worth 16k or 20k you get 1.6k or 2k not really worth the time honestly
when stealing ships they could be worth 100k but you have to pay 80k to register and they only give you 85k when selling
there is just no real point to doing them even looking at it from the realm "its an RPG!" its not worth the time unless you are a crappy smuggler or space pirate
just make me sad as a lover of what RPGs are…….. sigh

  11. Going through this quest from CF's side, is way less stressful. I've done both, but leaving out the UC really doesn't change much, except for the ending. Running back to SysDef, every other day, is a pain in the back side. Again, it really doesn't change anything otherwise. It's a fun quest and super fun just being a pirate. Renegade For Life!

  12. John, have you ever played Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters?
That game solved pretty much every problem this game has, and it did it 30 years ago. But of course there's a proper remaster if you want to try.
Ur-Quan Masters Megamod is probably the best one. And it's free.
