  1. It's a shame you didn't drop a save before collecting the Mantis armor set.

You could've reloaded and rerolled to try for something better.

BTW, Combat Veteran is actually pretty good, since most of the enemies you encounter are human.

Also, the Chameleon effect stacks. You, yourself, won't see the difference, but you would be harder to detect by enemies.

  2. Sliding in late. Day 0014/1230 of requesting Jon read Macbeth to us with accompanying funny voices for the characters. The measure of a mantis is primarily dependant on whether you found it in New Zion or the Mojave.

  3. Man, the Mantis really does just seem to be the same issue as so many different parts of this game. Just that same old feeling of "Alright, let's see what the payoff is…oh. That's it?"

  4. The Mantis gear was actually really good if Jon had done the Mantis Quest early game. Now that he's mid to late game, the gear is pretty weak by comparison to his current gear.

  5. The best ship parts for each of the manufacture are all over the place
Demios- is the Demios yard orbiting mars
Nova Galatic- is on Titan at the New Homestead ship tech
Stroud Elklund is the yard in Narion
    Hope Tech- on Povo

I highly recommend checking out Nova Galactic and Demios for cockpits John they have the biggest ones in the game.

  6. i never got why people went on about this Mantis Quest. I always suspected i missed something…. People go on about the suit and the ship. You can randomize suit stats by save/loading but it always looks stupid. I probably did it way too late and suit and ship were just bad.
But i didn't find the quest itself very exiting. It's not even as silly, comically over the top as the Ant guy in F3 or the Mechanist. It's by far the laziest of them. And Starfield has some really good one off quests. The time travelling science base was amazing! Or the …historical one in Charybdis…

  7. Day 15/1230 of requesting John play a game nobody will remember, like Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim. Also the similarly space game Beyond Good and Evil. Not a lot of space travel for a space game.

  8. Mantis Puzzle Trap-

Jon: Carefully analyzes the clues, possible word combinations, ponders the various options, and comes up with a solution
Everyone Else: Jetpacks over the trap

Very reminiscent of Taskmaster challenges, haha

  9. i kinda like the idea that andreja is actually a fucking idiot,
"Damn, how could they tell that I, a person wearing a full va'ruun outfit, actually work for va'ruun. These people must be smarter than expected"

  10. The mantis armor i picked up has chameleon on it. It bugs out when you crouch and my character becomes permanently invisible. Add to this my Crimson Fleet storyline has also bugged, so I can't progress further, and I've just lost any sort of enthusiasm to carry on with this game. I'm level 40 something so have put in quite a few hours. I was so excited for this game. I wanted it to be amazing and it's just…..not. Has me worried for the next Fallout

  11. The one thing I find kinda lame with starfield is it feels like the NPC characters don't really like Interact with each other unless its relevant to their particular story. Like with this episode it would have been nice to see new dialogue where Andreja acknowledges that Sarah was killed and changes her responses to match her knowing that. It just feels like there are little continuity errors in the writing that is kinda distracting and also a bit antiquated considering its a 2023 action RPG. Like I would expect these continuity errors in like a mid-2000s RPG just because of the limitations in tech. But like its 2023, its not that uncommon to find RPGs where the companions have alternate dialogue depending on where you are in the story. Like BG3 has a lot of it.

  12. The Razorleaf was my main ship for most of my first playthrough. Started as a small Class A and eventually morphed into a Class C Destroyer style gunship. Lots of fond memories. But the Mantis suit is straight up ugly.

  13. 25:35 Now there's something to think about. If Bethesda love costumed hero stories so much, I wonder if they've ever wanted to ever create a city-sprawling superhero RPG. It would probably compare super unfavorably to stuff like the Insomniac Spiderman games, though, even if it was trying to fill a slightly different niche.

  14. i think the boon of mission-reward ships is that some come with components that'd ordinarily be locked behind "starship design" tiers. the player can then strip away all the common-or-garden modules in the builder, but keep the exotic bits. then kludge together a build that accommodates those "McGibbles" in their preferred layout. it's geeky and involved, eventually irrelevant, but kinda fun.
