I like your comments, but you should look around better, there were Digipics in front of the safe and you walked past a big box. Just use the scanner more openly.

If the game is installed on a slow drive like an hdd or a crappy ssd weird stuff happens like what you've been experiencing.
I changed my drive for my install and all the weirdness went away

From what others have said so far, you can carry contraband by getting a shielded cargo module for your ship.
Yeah your pc is definitely struggling to keep up with the graphics demands. Totally worth it watching you explode the badies though

Try updating your gpu drivers, if you haven't already. Also, there is this tiny tool called BES – Battle Encoder Shirasé, which can limit cpu usage of a process, which can help with occasional hiccups. I slowed my game by -5% and freezes are compleatly gone. But I'm still having sometiems infinite loading screens, so usual advice – save frequently and on several slots.
You could have jumped from the roof, safly enough as you are on a low gravity moon
Laughed my self to tears with the rearrangement of the explosives
The locking picking game gets easier as you level up the skill. I think at level 3 the ring turns blue letting you know that the key will work for that layer. And at level 4 you can eliminate keys that don’t work
