Their are a lot of people surfing the trend that Starfield sucks. Confirmation bias. Dude's are out here making hour long videos about how Star Field isn't Star Citizen, while not actually going to play Star Citizen. Emil tried to appeal to people's better nature, and some click bait farm took him out of context. Absolute ridiculousness. I'm just going to keep playing it, and supporting the saner heads in the creator community.
And you know what, I'll play some Star Citizen too. RSI is doing their damnedest to push the envelope, like Bethesda did with Star Field, and they deserve the support imo.
Starfield is the game that I want to love, feel like I shouldn't like, but for some reason can't get enough of. I don't love all the loading screens and I wish there were drivable vehicles, but the game sucks me in for several hours at a time. I don't know why but I can't seem to get enough.
I wish it wasn't always so divisive. Like, why can't I enjoy the things I enjoy and you enjoy the things you enjoy. Why does it always have to be that you're stupid for liking something or stupid for not.
There is plentty of content in the game, but most players don't want to take the time speaking to random NPC's. I'm 1000 hours in and still have tons and tons of quests/missions to do and some to even find yet. To each therir own. Back to Starfield I go! 😎
I keep seeing these hour long essay videos about how bad Starfield is and how boring it is. I know none of these people have actually played the game because there’s tons to do. And the ones who did play it just went and did the main quest only. Those losers are just riding the Starfield hate bandwagon because it’s easy views for their low effort videos
If this was an indy game made by just one person it would be praised to the ends of the Earth. As it is many people lambast it, but it would be the same game.
I wish ppl would stop responding to the countless irrational, bad faith attacks on Starfield with the phrase 'It's a flawed game…'. Not that it isn't, but literally every game ever made has flaws and it sets someone up to be in a position of immediately being defensive instead of advocating for their own views. It's a rhetorical retreat that need not exist. Folks should stand up for the elements of the game they enjoy and champion those if they liked them and not be timid or afraid to say so. It is becoming a social taboo to merely enjoy the game at this point due to concessions like this happening all over the place.
They are mad because Starfield has no visual sex scenes and other visual romance options. No visual drug or alcohol use scenes, naked bodies with "mass and shape". No free flying and no seemless planet to planet or land travel. That's it! If it had at least two of these features with one being the romance options I stated with "special" features, it would have gotten game of the year hands down. I don't care what they say BG3 GOT GOTY for only 3 reasons content depth, flexibility of different outcomes and……………… its daring sex scenes. Period! That's all people care about and its sad. Starfield is my game of the year. They are just going to get better.
My complaints against Starfield.
Played 484 hours. 50/50 achievements unlocked.
The inability to loot armour and clothes directly off of dead NPCs ….a feature in all previous Bethesda single player RPGs since Oblivion (first Bethesda game I played). Or pickpocket clothes/armour from living NPCs like you could in Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Few reasons for this. Firstly it was just funny removing clothes from people! Also looting armour from numerous dead enemies in a heavy gunfights was a good indication to let me know which fallen enemies I had looted.
Also, how cool of a stealth kill would it have been to sneak up on an enemy in a zero oxygen zone and pickpocket the helmet from them and see them suffocate? Missed opportunity there.
Another problem is that 95% of the human enemies you fight are ALL wearing spacesuits and helmets EVEN in breathable environments. They all just look the same ALL THE TIME. This frustrates me no end. The game feels like I am always fighting identical clones all the time. No visual identity to them. Just another person in a spacesuit with a helmet. And since you can no longer remove the helmet from dead NPCs you never get to see their face …this is a big factor for me in making the game feel soulless.
You can set the game to where your character is not visibly wearing the helmet and spacesuit in breathable environments ….so why does this not apply to NPCs?
Other issues….
Merchants now stay in the same place 24/7. Gone are the days of Oblivion where you could visit a store or big place during the day…scope out the place for valuables and then come back in the night when everyone is sleeping and carry out a heist.
Oblivion actually had NPCs who had daily routines, work during the day, take breaks and eat, go to chapels…go to a tavern in the evening before going home to bed. NONE of this exists in Starfield. In my 484 hours of play time on Starfield the only character I ever saw sleep was the Adoring Fan on my ship.
Swimming underwater is another thing now not possible in Starfield. The pickpocketing has been heavily downgraded. You can't reverse pickpocket…place an item in the NPCs inventory, like a grenade in the Fallout games or poisoned apple like Oblivion.
Outpost building is a joke. The only time I needed to build an outpost was just so I could deploy a bounty clearance thing on a planet not affiliated with any faction…so I could quickly fly there without interference and easily pay off my bounty.
Limited melee weapons and no modding possible for melee weapons. No hand to hand weapons either.
Dropping clothing items on the floor now shows the item as a boxed package instead of an actual clothing prop like previous Bethesda games did.
Way too many unkillable NPCs. What I loved about Fallout: New Vegas was that pretty much everyone could be killed (even companions) and you could just fail the quest but the game still continues.
The powers in the game I kept totally forgetting existed and never used them.
One problem I had with past Bethesda games was feeling there was not enough hotkey/favourite slots for all the weapons I had. Starfield I only used up 5 of the slots maximum. Lack of interesting weapon variety.
Some of these may seem trivial but when you add them all up it really becomes noticeable.
The game really lacks the soul of previous Bethesda games. So much missed opportunity.
If I was to rate by favourite single player RPGs under the Bethesda umbrella in order of favourite, this is how it goes:
Fallout: New Vegas = 10/10❤
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion = 10/10
Fallout 3 = 10/10
Fallout 4 = 9/10
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim = 9/10
Starfield = 7/10
I do really like Starfield, but for now I have stopped at level 20. Barely touched the main quest. Once we have meaning-full updates and better mods I will continue. Don't mind the wait. Patience is a virtue
Honestly really enjoyed Starfield! Played over 250 hours before I put it down. Legit 8-9/10 for me! Very few games keep me locked in for 200+ hours!
That being said, I do have complaints. And it’s a bit of a list DESPITE me loving the game. lol. So here we go:
Things that should be easily fixed:
More variety of locations (handcrafted)
Better enemy AI & enemy variants (& different combat styles)
Better melee (use Skyrim’s animations!) melee weapon tiers & mods
Better stealth
Better NPC facial graphics & shading
Better ability/skill balancing
More weapon variety (quality tiers for melee)
Give NPC’s a schedule (ie Skyrim & Fallout)
More dynamic quests
More late game/high level content
Faster land travel (rovers, buggies, bikes)
More variety of random encounters
Better UI (faster at least)
City & dungeon maps
More variety of companions
More long quests (Va-Run, expansion)
Vendors need more money
Things that might be hard to fix:
Quest & Faction decisions don’t seem to have any noticeable impact/consequences (make replay value low)
Make exploring more interesting (exploratory random encounters? Vehicles?)
Load Screens
Like I tried to go back to NMS, but the graphics in Starfield is ways away from that NMS. I keep coming back.
Truthfully speaking, this game is missing spontaneous danger. They could implement that with Shattered Space via a Va'Ruun or Alien invasion.
Do I wish the space exploration was better? Yes?
Do I wish there was more hand crafted content? Yes.
Do I wish there was some form of multiplayer? Yes
But, the game isn't boring. I just wish SysDef became your mortal enemies and attacked you vehemently after you side with the Crimson fleet.
Let's see what Bethesda does.
The game has glaring issues and from my view I don't see enough of a roadmap being shown to the community about how to make the game more complete. Right now it feels quite hollow, although it has an enormous potential. I'd like to see the Dev team release information on how they intend to fix the major bugs and make the game less clunky for the player.
I haven't touched it since I first tried it and I won't till they release more patches to fix it.
This outburst by the lead Dev on X has me confessed. Instead of calling gamers disconnected he could have instead said something along the lines of "Your criticisms are heard and we are creating a roadmap to bring the game up to code"
I do feel they released a bit of a shell of a game and it feels like the modding community has to step in and create something that will be worth the 12 year plan Spencer is talking about. Right now I see no indication from Bethseda that says "we need to do more for our community". Also, it seems that some modders who created legendary content for Skyrim won't touch the game and that's very telling in itself.
I feel that the commentary from Bethseda is disconnected with a community that really carried Fallout 4 and created some masterful mods that people still play in Skyrim.
I looked into the modder that called Starfield trash and said he wasn’t going to mod for it because it’s boring. Come to find out he stole Skyrim source code in 2019, and sold access to the mod he developed with the code through Patreon (which pissed off Bethesda). The team is probably mad because I’m sure they can’t get in the paid mod program.
This is ridiculous (everyone's backlash) this man was simply sharing his opinion and I think he is more than entitled to speak up especially since there is so much critics over starfield, I'm glad he spoke up, he was simply letting everyone know how challenging game development is and how stressful it can be, I respect this man for saying what was on his mind respectfully and proffesionally! And we should appreciate all the hard work and stress that went into starfield instead of showing them complete hate and negativity, no one points out the good things starfield does and I think they deserve major major credit for what they have accomplished. Imagine working on a project for years and years and doing it for the people and then when it's finally released everyone is just so negative and don't appreciate it, that's not cool the developers should be treated alot better.
I am at the point I stopped looking at any YT videos. I love Starfield. At 63yrs old, I am having the time of my life with this game. It's exactly what I was expecting from the Starfield Direct. The load screens don't bother me, they take secs. Compared to some where it take 10 to 15 secs. The game is about EXPLORING. I get that some what land vehicles and modders haven't yet made any, then well not my issue. I don't use mods. This game is beautiful to explore. I have to use a flash drive to store all the dang photos I keep taking. I am too busy running around surveying, gathering resources, exploring some abandon/deserted facility etc. Yes I have run into 2 of the same type in one area, but you know what, means I know it well and can go thru it faster and loot everything. I must loot EVERYTHING :). Now if I could just stick to one character and not keep starting a new one cause I want to try a different play style/background/trait. Hoping I can stay with my current Unarmed Bouncer play. She is a blast to play with. I will say they do need to add an UNARMED button or a what to maybe when you use the quick slot wheel to click on you current weapon to maybe store it and go back to bare handed. But it's a minor thing for me.
Watching these live streams increases my interest in playing starfield. Keep up the good work.
Lol life on iss everyday for eternity… .. . … .. .
I still play Starfield almost every day. I recently bought "GOTY" Baldurs Gate 3 which actually has far less action in it than Starfield, yet it gets no complaints from these people. Sony fanboys are the ones who started all the lies and continue to do so because Starfield broke them.
Most people didn't even have to buy Starfield as it's free on gamepass.
There is so much they can still add to Starfield. I would like more random action added. Like more attacks on our outposts…. Have the game notify us when one is being attacked. They could easily add that randomness… Right now none of mine have ever been attacked, yet supposedly it happens.
Starfield is boring, and i own every bethesda game there is to own so trust me it's trash but hey you have a right to play or defend it, but those of us that think different also have a right to voice our dislike
Ok so if you’re saying you want to not ramble to long why not get right to the comments you’re hinting to and why talk about the guy and shit before just get to the fucking comments like what are you doing first off you already talk as slow as the southern part of America does and then you talk about the comments before saying what they are in the first place like Jesus dude you need YouTube classes or something if you’re doing a stream but have some stuff to go over first it would be in your best interest to just get into that as quick as possible it was like ripping out teeth waiting to actually hear what the guy had to say on X lol if you pinned his comment in your description then my bad but if not like what the fuck dude just get on with it
Unfortunately this game needs an overhaul. Too many loading screens. Anthem has the same problem.
Stop insulting gamers by watering down your products and get back to making RPG's
Emil’s a good dude. Really enjoy talking with him on X
FYI on the visual quality of the stream…
I am seeing the highlights blown out (instead of bright white reflections, I see gray patches).
I don't see this on other streams.
I wonder if HDR is getting passed thru and YT is compressing back to SDR?
