Starbase Survives Hurricane Beryl, SpaceX Confirms Booster Catch, and NASA Mars Astronauts "Return"

Starship development has seen some big news, from Elon revealing that Starship’s 5th flight test will be in just 4 weeks, and SpaceX all-but-confirming a tower catch, there’s a lot to be excited for! We also saw 4 orbital launches over the week, by JAXA, SpaceX, Firefly and China, and the simulated return to Earth of NASA’s CHAPEA 1, who spent over a year living aboard a 3D-printed simulated Mars habitat!

  1. Enjoy! Normally there is background music in these videos, but I thought I'd experiment without it. What do you prefer? Background music or no background music?

Edit: the majority feel that the background music should stay, and so next week will go back to having background music again 🙂

  2. Oh good, Starbase survived. I know it could survive the explosive force of 33 raptor engines at full throttle, but I wasn't sure if it could survive a gentle coastal breeze.

  3. Where music?

And where classic intro? It's been a while since I heard you say "Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of space this week". Always makes my day👍

  4. The first thing i noticed was the background music being gone and i honestly prefer it. The old track i really did not like. Maybe if it was changed i wouldn't mind but for now i preferred without 🙂

  5. Imagine being locked in a industrial sized propane tank for 3 years. Thats what going to Mars will be like. Have no illusions and truly appreciate the incredible paradise that is our home planet.

  6. Simulated Mars transport and living conditions will first be tried using the proximity of the moon. There the effects of zero gravity on a woman’s pregnancy could be fully tested to find out if we’re gonna create a zombie race or not.

  7. 6:02 I KNOW, without a shade of doubt, how well I'd cope: not well at all. I don't listen to anyone who claims they could without experiencing something along the lines of what I did. I've had a couple remote assignments in Alaska where I was not allowed to leave the living quarters without escort (polar/grizzly bear and weather threat), so I was stuck indoors for six weeks at a time in close quarters with people that, putting it diplomatically, I wouldn't have chosen to live with. We had to pile into a truck every day and get driven out to the tiny remote equipment shack we were working in. We were working 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week. To say the least I didn't enjoy much of it, and I was pretty stressed out by the end of each assignment. It was then I knew I didn't have what it takes to go to Mars.

  8. Hmmm… Considering that the whole thing with the Quartine didn't really effect me all that much. If I have somewhat stable connection with family and the ability to read things or play games I will not go crazy.

  9. Why did you put “SpaceX confirms booster catch” in the title and then immediately when the video starts you say “all but confirmed”. In other words they didn’t confirm it… they’ve hinted at it.

  10. I think nasa missed a trick with that test, people would 100% have watched a 24/7 live stream of that, could have earned some revenue seeing as they are always lacking funding, could even have patrons send recorded messages to messages to the crew for q&a type stuff, they do it on the iss so could be done on mars with delays.
