As an anthropologist I kinda feel obligated to address the Anti-colonial Tomb Raider topic. Firstly, video games are an aspect of culture just like the Pyramids, the Parthenon and every other material or intangible heritage. Every culture understands itself via its differences with others, so every culture might depict others in a negative way. That’s okay, everyone does it. The western countries and every culture in the world has the right AND the responsibility to not care about what others think. By changing the nature of the games, it’s like accepting an outside influence. Secondly, people can separate art from reality. Colonialism was a real historical circumstance, art draws inspiration from the present AND the past but it doesn’t necessarily mean hostile sentiments towards others at the present. Lastly I enjoy your content whenever I can bro, keep up the good work.
