  1. 9:16 Saucer, yes like that type of saucer but also like a UFO… a flying saucer, if you will 🛸 😂

Makes you wonder if all the aliens who are coming to earth are just the families left behind on big alien missions against the cosmic gods

  2. wow I am still struck how much "hysteria" and "melodrama" this episode seems to have, I haven't seen it in ages. (I was 11 when it first aired, and my critical faculties were um, different, back then.)
Still love it. But yes, this is just the start. It eventually diverges further from The Original Series and becomes amazing.

  3. I’m sure I’m not the first person to say this but it would be better to watch 28 total episodes rather than pick 4 episodes from each season. Also you might want to pick a mod to give you some spoilers as there are certain episodes that are NOT worth watching which set up absolutely essential episodes later.

In particular there is one season 1 episode that is terrible and it would be a shame if you watched the whole thing… except it sets up one of the best episodes Star Trek has ever done on any of its shows.

There are not too many great season 1 episodes so if you stick to your formula then I’m guessing you’ll watch it to set up the later thing… hopefully it doesn’t put you off the show.

I’m sure I’m way too late with this suggestion since you record in advance but that’s my two cents.

  4. I love her energy! But it's funny when the information is mixed up until you learn the differences, it's like a scoring a run in baseball and yelling "touchdown!!" lol!! the name gives it away, "The Next Generation" The newest crew in the latest starship to be named "Enterprise."

  5. my only question: why is there a post of someone's reaction to a particular video? Why would their opinion matter? Is there some kind of affirmative action quota to be met from being seen by a particular individual?'

  6. This series spawned the phrase "grow the beard", which is when a series starts to find itself, figure out what it should be about, and actually become great. "Growing the beard" is basically the opposite of "jumping the shark". It is, of course, referring specifically to the beard Commander Will Riker starting sporting in the second season.

  7. I remember watching this as a kid when it was airing live. The series gets much better and Picard becomes the DEFINITION of captain as the actor gets some experience with the role. Picard is my favorite captain.

It may be important to realize that there have been several iterations of Enterprise since the one you saw in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. That one had registry 1701-A, this Enterprise is 1701-D and is only the second (I think) of its class – the "Galaxy" Class. These ships were huge in comparison to previous starships and was designed for exploring and as a result they were out in deep space for long periods of time – thus the need to accommodate families.

Also, the movies you previously watched occurred in the 2280's-2290's. This episode takes place in 2371. So Starfleet has had number of advances in technology. I hope it haven't said too much :).

Good luck with the next few episodes and hope you enjoy.

  8. I could describe every episode of Star Trek within about 30secs, so as a sophomore in University of Florida, I and about 15 of my dorm mates watching the premiere were thrilled and disappointed somewhat. The 1st 2 seasons were strange, odd camera angles, strange comments. They were feeling their way, making mistakes.

  9. Looking forward to more of your Star Trek journey! I hope you get some of the fun episodes and not jus the serious, plot developing ones. Maybe you could have another poll for “just for funzies” episodes and do one per season. Either way I’m glad you’re enjoying this world. and Q does improve. He’s a bit like Loki; serious at first and then more mischievous. I personally like his appearances in the show Voyager because he’s more lighthearted

  10. Really excited for this! Subbed for this. Although you might want to watch 4-8 episodes from each season. Season 1, while not as good as some later seasons, still has about 6 episodes you should watch.

  11. Welcome aboard to the Galaxy Class U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) Cassie. You've finally arrived to the later half of the 24th century with this Star Trek crew. The same Gene Roddenberry created "The Next Generation" (TNG) show which is set about 100 years after the Kirk crew, who operated the Constitution Class U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-A).

You will learn soon enough the Picard Maneuver, the Riker Maneuver, the holodeck program, and the command style of Capt. Jeane Luc Picard and his signature command:
    1. Make it so
    2. Engage
    3. SHUT UP Wesley
    4. Number One

The uniform color did not change from The Original series (TOS), but the role of the crew with yellow and red shirt did. In the TOS, yellow indicated command, which is why you see Capt. Kirk wearing yellow shirt. Red shirt was worn by engineers (Scottie) and security. In TNG, the yellow shirt and red shirt swapped role. Yellow shirt was assigned to engineers (Lt. La Forge), communication, and security (Lt. Worf and Lt. Tasha Yar). Red shirt given to command (Capt. Picard, Lt. Cmdr. Riker, admirals, and staff officers). Blue shirt remained the same, which was assigned to science and medical staff (Dr. Beverly Crusher). The weird thing was in the first two season, I believe, La Forge and Worf wore red shirt as you saw in the pilot episode of TNG. From the 3rd season to the end of TNG, La Forge and Worf wore yellow shirt.
