Star Trek news – A new Star Trek series was recently announced by Alex Kurtzman but is all as it seems or are there games being played? Is this new show official and will Paramounts new owners really want a Star Trek sitcom comedy??

I hope they do a comedy I love lower decks it's not a sin to try and do different things with trek people are two close minded
Interesting.
Well, Secret Hideout did this once before where they all out lied that a show they wanted to make
that had NO show order… Section31 “the show” was unofficially announced on Twitter 4 or 5 years ago and all the sycophants were cheering that the S31 show was happening- “take that, Haters!”
But then, the announcements suddenly stopped one day and it was obvious that there was no S31 show approved or in production.
So it sounds like Kurtzman just did the same thing here.
I love that he had to be told the fans hate the idea and have him be mad about it.
Does Terry Matalas know Skydance is waiting for him?
I want nothing from Kurtzman
A Star Trek sitcom sounds stupid. It would be like a "rom-com" set in the "Alien" universe.
It's a horrible idea and the faster they get rid of secret hideout the better
If I were making Star Trek, I would greenlight two shows that share certain resources and props. This would give a certain level of continuity between the series also. I would make them both science fiction and I would focus more on speculative science than social commentary. I would keep the budget down also. This is Sci Fi that CAN be made on a budget. They don't have to spend a fortune.
I don't like the idea of a Star Trek sitcom. I don't mind having funny moments in a Star Trek series, but I don't think having the whole thing a sitcom is a good idea. I know that some people are into Lower Decks, but I really can't get into it because of the humorous nature of the entire show. Again I don't think of Star Trek as a comedy.
Wait I thought that all of modern Star Trek was a comedy because let’s face it all of modern Star Trek is a joke, so I guess that would make Alex Kurtzman a comedy writer 😂
I don’t what the big deal is about this Legacy show because I didn’t rate the third season of Picard at all. For me the whole season fell apart when they introduced the Borg storyline. Best write off Picard as never happened. With what happened in VOY it never made sense to me. 0:06
If there is to a Legacy show then it would need to be in the Star Trek prime universe not the Picard Fake Trek universe.
Everything Kurtzman touches with Trek is awful. So sad to say but Trek is a corpse circling the drain.
So, ironically, they want to make The Orville…
Great presentation thanks for keeping us informed on all things Star Trek and sci-fi. I really appreciate it. I think you’re right. Why they have a Star Trek comedy is just Ludacris. I mean nothing. Can’t have funny episodes and that’s what it’s supposed to be. You have an episode. That’s funny even when it’s temporal universe so you could like. Take it. Take an episode of the show into like a friend type of universe in a parallel universe or pillow dimension but the setting show their permanently would be a step. Too far I agree entirely with you. I’m looking forward to legacy. Start with Academy. Can be good. I’m a little worried about it too though. Because Card season one and two will be hit and miss. I liked it but others didn’t. I wasn’t a big fan on Discovery. Overall was OK but I love Lordex. I didn’t. I didn’t at first cause it was too funny and I love strange new worlds. That’s my kind of Star Trek. Picard season three. Definitely good stuff legacy. Can’t wait to see it in season. Two of prodigy. Oh wow that’s so much. Better such an improvement. Hope it’s third season. Thanks for the fun until next time.
round and round and round we go and where it stops nobody knows …….
but im pretty sure that at some point with it being america it will end up in the courts.
Star Trek the Ballet next?
Nope, a sitcom is a horrible idea. I have zero interest in the Academy show too. Legacy is the only Idea since Picard S3 that I've actively wanted to see happen. However I've made peace with the truth that the Star Trek I've loved for decades is pretty much dead and gone.
Nope, a Star Trek sitcom is a horrible idea (shivers down my spine as the images go through my mind!)!!
Just do more Lower Decks…that worked
Oh for crying out loud…
Kurtzman cries wolf again to get a stay of execution..
I really do hope that Skydance pulls the plug on secret hideout all together. Just put Star Trek on the shelf for a year or two get some good riders. Get a good show runner and make Star Trek great again.
A live version of lower decks would be fun.
I honestly don't want a Star Trek Comedy. The Orville was the best mix of a Star Trek style series and comedy and admittedly it worked. However, lower Decks has already been done as Trek's comedy show. That's more than enough for me.
We've already had 5 seasons of Lower Decks. It's been successful, and is established, and the fans would much rather have a Season 6, Season 7, etc.
They need to stop with this "one show for every demographic" nonsense. Star Trek can do different genres within its sci-fi setting, but making individual shows for each genre/demographic is too much, and ignores what Trek really is – a fairly serious sci-fi series aimed at adults.
thought Strange New Worlds was already a Trek Sitcom….
Kurtzman may not be a comedian, but he is a clown.
Part of what made Star Trek so amazing, was how rare and special it was. Now, we have a different 'Trek for every day of the week… at least. They're turning something precious into just another "tv" pop culture accessory.
Any day now, we're all going to hear about the release of Star Trek – 90210.
O.S.
Sound of vomiting.
Yet again Alex Kurtsman is getting removed from Star Trek according to your sources. I believe your sources have a name of Harvey and he’s a giant white rabbit.
Unlike seemingly many Star Trek fans, I cannot abide the very concept of Lower Decks. In my mind, a franchise cannot have any part in parodying itself. It throws taking anything in the franchise seriously anymore because if the creators can't even take it seriously, why should I? You're looking into the mind of the creators and they are pointing out the very things they did that they think are a bit silly, so it feels like they are laughing at the fans for being dumb enough to take any of this seriously when they don't. It's like a conflict of interest when they do it themselves.
This is made even worse by the fact that when I first heard of the idea of a "Lower Decks" show, it was meant as a serious extension to the Star Trek franchise, I think it was before Secret Hideout was even in the picture, which I thought would have been great to see Star Trek from the perspective of the "redshirts", as it were, and now, instead of something like that, that I really thought would be cool, I have to put up with a self-parody in it's place, and a real "Lower Decks" series might never be made "because it's been done".
I probably would have liked a parody series like this if it had been done by anyone else, although parodies usually end up being creatively handcuffed if they only parody one show. Better something like Futurama or even Galaxy Quest, where they are mostly parodying Star Trek, but they branch out into other forms of Science Fiction and the fandom, too.
Feeling like I do on this topic, obviously a Star Trek sitcom would be anathema to me. Bad enough that I know the musical episode of Strange New Worlds exists.
Your obsessed with kurtzman he is living rent free
Lower Decks and SNW work despite Kurtzman et al. What the farbot? A sitcom?
