  1. Glad you covered this game. It's a bit clunkier then EAW but ti's got a lot of character, especially the BORG with their ability to customize their cubes and combine into one giant super cube that decimates everything

  2. Ooff it has been ages since I played this. A full campain would be nice. Maybe even a fun game for a community evening? as far as I remember there was 8 Player scirmish.

  3. armada 2 is still one of my fav rts, I got it around 2002 and pumped thousands of hours into it. Still have a few fav mods for it, the star wars mod, b5, fleetops is nice. Never been very good with 8472 unfortunately but I love my federation and the Akira is chef kiss

  4. ah, this brings me back. i played this so much is still knew exactly where all the borg basses were. Maybe you should have sent more of your ships back to repair and more importantly, recrew since you always lose crew in combat and less crew means slower repairs. I don't remember if its impacted general ship performance.

  5. A2 was one of my all time favorite games back in the day. Definitely do a full campaign. A few minor pointers… #1. The holding the shift command while placing buildings allows you to adjust the Z Axis. This can make you place mining stations right next to the moon they mine so the dilithium miners have less far to go and resources come in faster. #2. Placing a starbase in orbit of a planet gets it a crew recruitment bonus. I think its double speed, but you'll have to check… #3. If you set the shipyard default movement, alert status, and chase rating; all ships that pop out will have the same default. This will keep you from having to reset each ship one by one. A3 was awesome as well. If you are ever up for an A3 game, I'm totally down.

  6. I want to slap the back of your hands with a ruler every time you put a Mining Station on the right side of the moon! Putting them on the left optimizes their entry and exit from the station!

  7. This game was fun, but I must say that the full conversion to Babylon 5 was pretty incredible. It was buggy and occasionally it would just quit, but they did a great job on all the races' ships.

  8. Played these games so much as a kid. Really wish we'd get a big budget, RTS/4X/etc. Star Trek game for a change. Always blew my mind that despite the popularity (and interesting lore and ship designs) of Star Trek, there's so little marketing stuff for it compared to something like Star Wars. No LEGO sets (I'd kill for a good D'Deridex model lol), just a handful of games nearly all of which are from decades ago, and the only ST games in recent memory are just mods.

  9. It is funny how you are complaining about how dangerous the bases are but then send fleets to attack non threats instead of the base that is blowing your ships up. Yes killing the mines, research bases, and shipyards is good as it slows progress but they are not as much of an immediate concern as the star base 2 shotting your flag ships. All 4 fleets on the nexus then clean up the other stuff.

Also capturing enemy shipyards is a great way to get free repair yards to maintain your fleet. New ships can't be built(unless your Borg) but you can keep the existing ones healthy
