  1. Drawing the 1-of vanity just shows how awful that card is to play against. Modern parallel is how imperial order was legal at 1 for years and was just an auto win button against so many decks in the format

  2. I solidly believe Shaddoll was the real best deck in Nekroz format and that the issue was the lack of modern deck theory. Similar to how dark world is the real best deck of fire/water format. Shaddoll easily mains loads of outs to nekroz and out grinds them with the endless conga line of assholes. This match was decided by floodgates sure but nekroz has a hard time contesting shaddoll's fusion spam even without them in play.

  3. Could you imagine, handtraps and floodgates beat combo decks , despite how good they seem to be.
1 Vanity or Mistake beats every deck that wants to surch half their deck.
Spyral also loses to the same cards.
Lalval chain is a broken card that dies to 1 Veiler.

  4. Really excited for what'll be coming up with the next format. Nekroz was still considered the best deck at the time but it was by the smallest margin since its release. Djinn is finally banned. This was an era where Shaddoll and BA won the European WCQ and the NA WCQ respectively. Shortly after the Clown engine released and was all at common and rare and a super affordable way for anyone to contest the meta. Kozmo gets its first wave of support showing the first signs that being untargetable is very strong. Qli during this time evolves into Towers Turbo which is one of the instances in the games history where Konami region-locking certain cards drastically changed the metagame since non-NA regions didn't have access to Diamond Crab King to counter it.

The end of the Duelist Alliance era in my opinion was the peak of the era with all of its decks competitive viable, even tellarkight, Infernoid and Yang Zing which each got Premier Event tops during the time as well. This is a format I feel could be added to the likes of GOAT and Edison as stand out historical favourites.
