  1. 5+7! Fans at an Alabama or Ohio State have no conception of what G5 schools have been going through. Tge exposure and payouts are severely restricted. And when tgey say, do better that doesn't account for the ability to block out G5 from rising too high in tge standings by simply not scheduling. Just sending more buckets of cash to the P2 who arent struggling is just selfish when the majorty of schools playing D1 football are very stressed financially. Do we really want just about 40 schools to be completely loaded and only playing themselves? Tgsts just boring. Better to help out the budget of all D1 schools through playoff access than pile cash on top of cash for the P2 exclusively.

  2. If you're going to give an auto-bid to a G5, which I'm fine with, that team should be seeded, IMO. Not guaranteed top 5.

And this committee needs to decide the degree to which winning a conference title, especially a P4 title, is a seed-impacting data point.

  3. Here's my CFP idea. 5+10 (5+4+6):
    – Top 4 champs to QFs (4 NY Bowls or campus)
    – 5th best champ + top 4 CCG losers to the 2nd round (campus)
    – Top 6 remaining at-large play in 1st round on Army-Navy week (campus)

    – Army-Navy maintains a standalone game slot
    – B1G and SEC CCGs still matter, can introduce conference semis for their top 4 teams if they desire with 2 winners likely qualifying for CFP, and up to 8 spots available
    – ACC and B12 likely get at least 2 CFP spots, their CCGs still matter, and can maybe add semis for top 4
    – G5/6 still get a spot while 6th best champ can likely qualify as a top 14-15 team as at-large
    – ND still has 6 spots to make CFP, only needs to be top 14-15 rather than top 11-12, and still get a likely home campus game
    – Max. # of games a team can play in a season maintained at 17 games (excludes Hawaii 13th game and 6th best champ)
    – TV networks get an additional 3 standalone CFP games

  4. The BIG was able to save 4 PAC schools, so lets hope they can find a way to save Stanford too..
CF Playoff- – 3 BIG, 3 SEC and 6 for anybody else until the ACC blows up.
Then it's 4 BIG, 4 SEC and 4 for everyone else regardless of conference

  5. Stanford and Cal have not been invited to the BIG 10 and HAVE BEEN VETTED OR CLEARED. BIG 10 has said they are not interested in adding them. Plus, none of the Networks are interested in paying the way for them to join.

  6. Stanford and Cal have to commit from upper campus to improve athletics, (football). They have been dying programs. Fox will determine their value $15-18million per year?

  7. I agree with G5 access to a point. Feel like there should be a requirement for ALL conference champ auto qualifiers that they be ranked in top 15 or 20 of CFP poll.

Regardless of whether the structure is 6/6 or 5/7, my hope is CFP is based on computer poll instead of Committee.

  8. The B1G passed on Stanford & Cal because they want to save those slots for ND and North Carolina as soon as the ACC implodes in the future. Stanford will leave Cal in a heart beat cuz Cal is a mirror of their State politics, meaning Cal is broke and in heavy, heavy debt, is run horrendously by bad leadership, their football and basketball brings no significant revenue, and neither the ACC, SEC or B1G want the State politics that come with bringing in Cal; the ACC was clear, they are not taking Stanford in a package with Cal. Stanford has a billion $ sports endowment and is incredibly well run. They will push Cal into a ditch if it means the B1G opens the door to them without Cal tagging along.

  9. 12 team playoff with byes is a joke. Level the playing field. No weeks off. No resting and planning.16 team playoff. 2 highest teams from each A4 league are in. 8 at large teams to include 2 highest ranked G5/independent. 2nd round and beyond all neutral site bowls.

  10. Big 12 should take "2 more schools (OreSt, Wazzi) in the Pacific Time Zone."

??? The big 12 has ZERO teams in the Pacific Time Zone. For some reason they went against their own list of Cultural Fit, Pacific Time Zone, and Leadership and took ASU and utah who didn't even want to go the Big12, are polar opposite culturally from the BigXII, and whose Leadership fought till the last minute to save the dying pac…go figure.

  11. Since I believe that 20 is the right number for non football divisions of 5 teams, therefore having Stanford as the fifth team on the West Coast makes a lot of sense. But ND has to join too to make the Financials work.

  13. IF PacIV's Autonomous NCP revenue share (20% of 80%) gets redistributed, I think it all should go to the G5, especially until we see how realignment ultimately shakes out.

  14. I agree with you. 5 + 7 is my choice. Check what team the best 12 people are rooting for. That tells you their vote. The big just want big and college football be darn. Blow outs are a way of life.

  15. I hope the big10 doesn’t include Stanford for religious bigotry against BYU. Plus including them will just be welcoming Bay Area politics, and an army of lawyers. Stanford should just be independent. Since they are so much smarter than everyone else, they should be able to figure things out!!! Cal is different though, they should not be punished, they also have a proper marching band, which Stanford doesn’t. They don’t have respect for traditional marching bands, should tell you what you are dealing with.
