SPREADING LIME WITH A MUCK SPREADER!! | MF 6499 & KTWO

In today’s video, it’s a first for Stewart Agri Contracting – we’re off spreading lime for hire! Using the MF 6499 and the Ktwo muck spreader with Father Phil and the Veneiri loading shovel. Definitely the dustiest job on the whole planet!!! With the price of fertiliser this year being so expensive it’s definitely something we’ve seen alot more of around the country. We’ve always known the Ktwo was able to spread lime but have never tried it before. One of our best customers asked us to do it for her so we said yes! Now we know what we can do we’ll definitely be spreading it more at home!

Hope you enjoy, any questions hit me down in the comments below, thanks for watching! G’Luck

  1. I sure someone will explain better, but in acid soils the bacteria, fungus and the lads and lassies that eat them and then in turn make the plant food, don't do well and by adding lime you change this and bingo more food . Bit like you do not add lemons or oranges to make compost?

  2. Judging by how dusty the lime was it’s calcium lime , did the customer test his soil to see if he needed calcium or magnesium ? , I think spreading the lime with the dung spreader is a great idea and will try it myself , we have a 10 tonne Richard western

  3. Pleasantly surprised by how well the Muck spreader got on. Thought spread pattern looked fairly ok, think even if ye were only to spread lime for yerselves she'd be well capable of doing the job. And do definitely spread a shot of lime for yerselves!

  4. I've been spending lime for year's and trust me, experience is one of the most important things. But if yiu want to spread lime, you need a lime spreader.

  5. Good to see the muck spreader getting the lime on, you are very resourceful Phil in using machinery you have to do the job in hand. Soil PH is very very important so that your fertilizers work at their best, not enough farmers test for lime in soil, we test every year in different fields so at the end of year 4 you are back round at the start again. For us we found our ideal PH level is between 6.0 and 6.4 for winter and spring barley, too high a PH level and your fertilizers dont work and too low they dont work either.

  6. First time putting out lime? Why now if never before? And what ph is the soil there? In cork where I was,it was regularly spread and pH was 6.4 to 7 making it easier to grow more crops. Good pH equates to more fertiliser uptake

  7. I have a mf 6180 and lately the tractor is in gear but nothing happens. The clutch is also gone very very sharp all the time. When the tractor does go in gear the brakes will cut the engine out so it's not a bad clutch. It gets worse when hot as its nearly impossible to get it to engage in any gear then. Have ye ever come across this by any chance
