  1. how many times does the launch mount have to be repaired after every launch? if they think that re-usability is going to work it wont i can just see the catch attempt crashing into the tower and exploding over the launch mount destroying it again.

  3. SpaceX are planning a huge increase n fuel that both booster and ship will need. This alone will cause both tank farms to expand. I think IFT-5 will launch as soon as the FAA give approval. Remember that SpaceX wants to catch both booster and ship (the planned landing legs for Mars may not be capable of landing on Earth). The FAA also has an open Mishap report from IFT-3. There were things that IFT-3 attempted that IFT-4 did not attempt or at least we did not see them happen: the successful closing of the payload doors; the sending of fuel back to the header tank; the firing of an r vacc using fuel from the header tank. Ship 30 is getting a whole new heat shield. The Stage 0 is still getting damaged too much to be rapidly reusable. IFT-3's mishap report is likely to remain open until SpaceX successfully resolves these issues.

  4. Nice show. Heard rumors about SpaceX building a "road" on their property, somewhere. If it is a real deal, maybe it is a road and an elongated parking area for future Starships and boosters. Mr. Musk has mentioned that in the near future when a Mars colony is in the making every 2 years there will be "100's of ships to launch to support the Martian colony. There will be other launch sites, of course, but here in Texas it looks like he is running out of property. To launch even 50 of these monsters he will need a parking area with a road leading straight to the launch towers so these ships can be launched quickly. Purchasing more land may not be possible due to all the "environmental issues". If, as he has maintained, Starbase is to be used just for Starship/booster R&D, the same problem will need to be resolved in Florida. Have a great day.

  5. Considering that one of SpaceXโ€™s goals is to fly rockets filled with extra fuel to transfer it to rockets in orbit, it makes sense they need a bigger tank farm to load the tanker truck before it blasts off the pad.

  6. I live in Brownsville TX I am a ham radio operator I was wondering if it is possible to get to Palmatio Ranch Battel field during the launch. I would like to cover the launch on 15 meters.

  7. After the Starship returns the Artemis astronauts to lunar orbit and transfers the astronauts to their ride back to Earth, will it remain in orbit around the moon and serve as a space station for future missions?

  8. curious question but… why do they build the tank farm so close to the towers? If something catastrophic happens during liftoff don't they lose everything?

  9. Arguably, a catch attempt seems somewhat risky. Maybe wait for the 2nd OLIT to be completed. If something doesnโ€™t go according to plan, launch capability will not unnecessarily be compromised.

  10. Why donโ€™t they eliminate all the header tanks and simply use a design which constricts the space for the fuel as it gets consumed. The tanks being cylinders can operate somewhat like a piston if some movable diaphragm with a simple gasket was pushed against the fuel, keeping it from sloshing. The diaphragm could be operated by gas pressure that fills up a kind of a bladder on the non-fuel side and maintaining sufficient force on the diaphragm holding back the fuel.
