Special report: Wage Wars as the UK's cost of living crisis bites

More than a million public sector workers could soon be asked if they want to go on strike over pay.

Numerous ballots have already begun, prompting questions about whether a winter of industrial action is on the horizon.

In this special report, Sky’s Nick Martin meets a nurse, a teacher and a firefighter to hear their cases on why they should get an increase in pay.

  1. These people wanted us to stay at home and take hand outs. Now they are complaining about the cost of living.. And they are still earning more than average. Time to disband the NHS.

  2. Everyone shown in this video earn 35 grand a year plus. What about the people such as myself who work minimum wage full time?? I'm absolutely drowning in debt too which is now getting worse.

  3. Sky do seem to be interviewing people who are not actually on a truly low salary – there are many more on lower pay who will be struggling far more and having to make even greater sacrifices. Of course we value public sector workers but there are no more hard done by than anyone else. We are all feeling the effects of inflation and it will get worse before it gets better. I agree with those that say there are just some who just don’t exercise sensible financial management and then complain about it! We all want more money and prices are obviously rising out of control but we do also have to take responsibility ourselves of what we earn and making sure that some is set aside for rainy days like these rather than living beyond our means in the good times and then expecting to be able to do the same in the bad times. Let’s just hope the bad times don’t last for too long!

  4. The main Problem here is that Russia can Defend itself from Western Corporations because It has A Powerful Millitary Armed to the teeth backed up by Hypersonic Nuclear Weapons! That's the Problem!

  5. The inflation issue is mostly being caused by companies knowing that they can charge more. Economists are confirming this. The businesses are admitting to this in their quarterly earnings calls. The inflation crisis is not being caused by a nurse being paid too much. It's scandalous to blame the unions.

  6. Useless governments! Greedy and stupid, over-regulate in favor of big corps, keep up the good work boys see where will land us in 10-20 years, i guess the only survivors will be the governments guys and big corp boys so the can regulate each other and themselves. 👍

  8. Neither wages, or tax will solve the, problems. The cost of living increase and the hike in interest rates it brought about is, all the effect if the sanctions. Deal with them and problem solved.

  10. To think people actually voted for this even tho they were warned , Thinking it would be better for working people under the Torys !!!!! Corbyn was no way the best leader but x10 better than bojo . From the 4 different lockdowns to allowing electric companies to bump their prices up by 100% it's end times for some ppl

  11. We need to take land back put.in community run farms in locally. create more. Free and cheap food resources, there empty land every where, and ignore the law in mass. Put up wind turbines voluntary and look at local things we can do to reduce costs of living. Over ride the government by just doing it and not comply same with free camping . Just override the current system

  12. Teachers, firefighters and healthcare workers, absolutely! Rail workers…hmmm, I lived in the uk for years and have some very unpleasant memories of those entitled and arrogant jobsworths. Some of the most breathtaking acts of unprofessional behavior I’ve ever seen.

  13. People on good wages complaining about money ffs try being unemployed and having to live on 74 quid a week, while trying to pay electric, gas, rent and buy food, it's impossible.
