  1. I like to think Kratos in his unlimited rage mode (when Baldur and the dark elf threaten Atreus) is his true power and he's just holding back to give Atreus a good adventure. When he first goes rage mode Baldur is hella surprised, saying "What?!" as his head gets smashed against shit, kinda like he can't believe the power Kratos is putting out.
I do wish the difficulty wasn't just a %damage/health to enemies though, GmGoW was brutal early game because of it, on top of enemies leveling up if you don't kill them fast enough.
Not sure I buy Ripley's explanation by the way.

  2. Strongly dislike reducing the difficulty tbh. You'll miss so much of the beauty of the games combat when you can just whack away at the triggers and don't have to think strategically about the encounters. Loses a whole layer of the game of trying out different combat strategies and gear to gain the upper hand.

  3. I heartily disagree with Mapo about Revenants. They are one of my favorite enemies in the game because they force you to mix up your tactics, like many other enemies in the game. It means you can't just do one thing over and over to defeat every single enemy type, making the entire combat system much more fun and varied.

  4. To be honest, the way this game makes things difficult is by making the enemies having a huge amount of HP and defense and making them do a lot of damage. It's pretty much an artificial hard mode. That's why i never bothered to play above normal difficulty. I would love if you do what you just said, put the game in a lower difficulty and raise it for the bosses, or just play it with a lower difficulty all the way through. You already finished the game, you are trying to finish it before Ragnarok and experience what you missed in the previous playthrough. Spend 5h just to defeat an elf is too much.

  5. If you plan on taking on all the valkeries I would highly recommend keeping the difficulty the same. The combat practice will be well worth it. I personally am exploring more than focusing the story and the upgrades you more than make up for the difficulty. Dark elves and revenants are just awful enemies

  6. Revenants sucks, it was a nightmare to fight against them in my first playthrough. On the second, i decided to just use rangend combat. I just raise the shield, stay away from them, and just keep throwing my axa and using arrows. It's way easier, specially if you have an ability that raises your frost damage everytime you throw and recover your axe.

  7. About the difficulty thing, whatever makes things easier for ya. I want to watch you go through this game as thoroughly as possible (minus things like getting all the collectibles). So whatever makes that possible for you, I'm for. If you aren't enjoying something, don't feel the need to bash your head against the wall just for us though.

  8. I love watching your playthroughs, however, seeing you lower the difficulty because of one hard encounter really disappointed me. You've played and beaten all the from software games and you cant handle a lil difficulty with all the power of the god of war???..tsk tsk..

  9. For me, Playing on Normal difficulty was just much more thrilling than higher ones, because of the insane damage even the most basic enemies do you're encouraged to play passively and extremely carefully, whereas on normal you can just go all out and have fun with the different systems. And the spongy-ness of enemy health bars is super frustrating, draws out battles unnecessarily, etc… overall I wish the difficulty was better implemented than just changes to health and damage

  10. After finishing this game on GMGoW difficulty, I will say that, with all the abilities, gear, and perks you can pick up, the game does get a lot easier as you progress. I would recommend sticking with a higher difficulty and exploring easier side areas regularly for loot and upgrades.

  11. 01:59:20 think you missed that you found one of the treasure map locations which is why you got 2 rewards a solid steel and 6000+ hacksilver, definitely worth reading the descriptions of the ones you have and any new ones you find so you know what you are looking out for as they are mostly near landmarks
