  1. I wonder if any thought has been given to using the retired starships in the Rocket Garden as scale 1:1 mockups for crew habitation. It would be a minimal outlay and visually stunning to see what ideas are in people's heads as a possible basis for further development. Would be cheaper to CAD it up, but it would be cool.

  2. 17.4 metric tons for a reused Falcon 9?

    I think the previous record was 16.7

    Its impressive just how "routine" Falcon 9 launches and landings have become

    60 launches last year , aiming for 100 this year

    it has trully become the world's workhorse for low cost/KG access to space

    Of course starship will exceed it by orders of magnitude … but even without it , Falcon 9 on its own was revolutionary and only now are other Rocket manifacturers catching up (Ariane 6, Vulcan Centaur etc…) , 7-8 years after the first Falcon 9 landing took place successfully

  3. yea not all the "venting" plume seen is oxygen and methane, at those temperatures air instantly condenses, so only a small percentage of the plume would be 02 / methane, can't be bothered doing the math but I'm guessing very little was released. Looked cool though

  4. Sadly it's hard to really appreciate the size of this thing since there is nothing near by of a scale we can all relate to like a car or a truck. For safety, of course. I still can't imagine how big this thing is, for the same reason.

I've lived in Canada and UK, most of my life, and I'm still not used to inches, feet, yards and miles, don't get me going on ounces and stones! It just drives me nuts 🤪

  6. That's a massive methane vent. If that cloud hit any kind of ignition source or spark, it might produce a fuel-air explosion that would destroy the booster. Why don't they vent the methane out to a flare stack?

    why doesn't the methane from the vents get pulled into separate Reservoirs, so it doesn't enter the atmosphere?

  8. Nuke engines will change everything for the better for deep space missions. Much of the opposition was the misconception early on that the nuke engine would be used for boost into orbit, but we may always need chemicals for that, and once there it can be of the utmost use in attaining great speed cheaply as to resources, needed for deep space missions. Hope we make good progress, soon, and it seems that it almost is worth waiting until these are operational to the point we can go to Mars, and other solar system destinations, "any time we want", and not have to wait for certain "launch windows" due to the "sluggish" nature of conventional chemical rocket boosters in space.

  9. crew dragon is capable of safely evacuating seven passengers. the fact that an evacuation has been overlooked by NASA and ignored despite numerous suggestions should be grounds for termination from NASA. clearly this is poor planning and mismanagement.

    Especially if they can deliver, we heard about the future soldier project for ages,
    Wold be cool to see spaceX as they ones that delivered it to reality,
    while also getting the capital it needs to launch us to the final frontier!

I wanted to get into learning about rockets , rocket science, and space … but I don't know where exactly to start, and being such a complex field, I couldn't find information/courses to gain knowledge….

  12. A standard US ton is 2000 pounds. A metric ton is 1000 kilograms or 1 mega gram (a unit that nobody uses). An imperial ton is about 1016 kilograms (why? Only the Crown knows), but it is just a bit more than a metric ton. A metric ton is about 1.1 Us standard tons. Hope this helps. :
    By any measure, the Starship booster is mighty big.

  13. Hey, non consequential correction here, but the busses seen in the beginning are just a SpaceX provided courtesy that started that day, intended for employees to get back and forth from work. Not for people to leave base for the wet dress.

  14. Newby question here: what happens to the propellant during these tests since ignition doesn’t occur? Is it recycled back into storage tanks or is there a significant amount of “wasted” material? Thanks in advance. Love your channel!
