Booster 9 is performing a second static fire, likely to be 33 Raptor engines, to verify the Booster for the second Integrated Flight Test. The road closure is scheduled from 9AM to 9PM. A notice to residents was issued.

In a previous nsf video, they briefly mentioned all the venting tests on the olm could be linked to the 4 engine failing to start when previous static fire ? 😊
Boca Chica Beast on the tower.
Simply breathtaking!!! ❤❤❤
I'm not surprised SpaceX is moving so fast. Their goal is to have multiple rocket launches for orbital refueling. So this process will probably continue to be fast. We might see two or three start ship launches in a day
Has the FFA given approval?
the tank farm took some damage again
Did any engines shut down prematurely or did all 33 engines static fire for the full duration?
So how many engines activated this test?
I saw a big chunk of shit at 2.15.05…botton right of screen.
Did it work then? Saw this this morning and it is still going this evening. Must be like watching paint dry most of the time. Did something happen? Did a lot of engines fail as they usually do?
Only 5 seconds? Did they make it short so as not to destroy the launch pad like last time? Or was it to stop while the going was good before the inevitable engine failures.
Hey Alex——There is a hole in their DeFence system😂
Well, undoubtedly, the fence got nuked! Just absolutely fantastic! 😆 🤣 😂
Full duration isn't 5 seconds, it shoudl be around 8 minutes. A 5 second test is engine start test long enough to count how many engines stay running and how many shut off after start.
Recall such tests didn't destroy the pad, and SpaceX hadn't conducted a full duration test at full throttle before the first launch attempt.
This test verivies the systems are running and gathers engine startuyp data. But not enough to qualify as full duration.
The fact that the short test managed to not abort prior to its scheduled 5 second run is good, but is just "test was not aborted" as oppposed to "full duration static fire".
These "shy" tests mean Spacex isn't quite confident yet and just wish to validate the initial engine start sequence.
Sounded awesome from 18 miles, clear as a bell

Sounds like a pair of pre schooler's.
Nice, Nice very Nice!
So many Engines in the Same Device! 🚀🥰👍
"Credit Ambrosia lyrics" 😁
Thanks to ALL who make this Possible! 👏👍

If I were FAA I would require a static fire at 90% thrust for five seconds. That is because the Fondag survived a 50% test with B7, and FAA needs concrete indisputable evidence that the new implementation will not be scattered across a square km of protected wildlife preserve.
It looks like a peek-a-choo
Wow way better then the first one
A really messed up bird in the first reply :p
This comment is 10h late so no one will read it. Oh well!
Unless the chopsticks can close faster then we saw today. The booster would need enough extra fuel to hover completely in place for 3 or more minutes. Depending on how wide they start at. That's with zero engine issues/failures during the hover. An engine failure during hover would be catastrophic for more than just the booster.
How did Spacex fix the non-firing three raptors of the earlier test?
CH4 + 4O = CO2 + 2H2O
On the periodic table H=1; C=6 and O=8 so, from my high school chemistry from 50 odd years ago, CH4 = 10 and 4O = 32 so my guess is that the mass of loxygen to methane is 3.2 : 1
good morning
her new jersey
that was reaaaaaaaaaally good.
hop wen?
Oh dear… too much “brown” blow out.
