Have you heard about possible skyliner coming to Disneyland that would connect the parking lots to Disneyland and DCA? Is it true? Tell us what you think. Construction video in the works… keep up the awesome videos! Thanks for sharing.
I feel like Universal is blowing Disney out of the water right now when it comes to their parks. Both Hollywood and Florida. Disney hasn’t been the same since the Covid shutdown.
Having a NDA is truly a blessing and curse. I really wish I could correct the totally off base speculations regarding many of these projects 😂
Perhaps this is an unpopular question… But why would Disney race to rebuild the tree-house? It isn't an E-ticket attraction. One has to be physically able to navigate climbing the thing, so not so attractive to mature people who, honestly, are those who are able to afford bringing a family to the park.
I'm actually surprised they didn't replace it.
David, I adore your attention to detail. Everytime I go to the park I notice lightbulbs that are out. It kills me.
Yes to bulldozing!!
My dad used to say “there’s never enough time and money to do it right, but there’s always enough time and money to do it over.”
I kind of suspect the work at Space is just repairs. When I was there for a weekend in Jan or Feb, can’t remember, there is a massive storm ripping through all weekend. Anyway, the roof around all the queue areas were leaking. Multiple major roof leaks and it was basically a river coming down the ramp as you walk up the start of the queue. I could very easily see this just being repairs to all that water damage over and above norm stuff like paint.
Disney has always meant quality.
They are in severe danger of losing their brand value.
I was just at Disneyland this last week the 20-23 and it was sold out Sat and Sun. It was supreamly busy but most seemed to just want to be there for the season..It is my opinion that they have been doing an incredible job managing the park level and crowd movement..I do wish more people would see my cane..
The bridge looks like the Imagineers came up with a great idea, but the suits subcontracted the work to the lowest bidder.
While I understand and generally approve of masking the construction sites. I think I’d enjoy sitting at Pelican Landing and watching them paint the Mark Twain. I used to work at the Hyde Street Pier ship museum. The continual touching up of old wooden ships is definitely Show.
the bridge is so bad, in my opinion: they should have spent the money to use a welded system to cover over the existing structure. more $ ? sure, but that's what Disney is about: being immersed with every small detail being perfect! Its a true testament of the new construction management program, which I have an inside on because I knew several long term construction/imaginers that ended up leaving during Chapek's rule due to their "restructure" and now their new way of doing construction. its a sad thing to be honest.
It seems Toontown is all related to the new walking surfaces they installed. I kind of anticipated that having guests walk on the fake grass was a sort of a beta test to see how it works. The sponge walking surface should have been more reliable as that has been used for years in playgrounds, etc, but having that much foot traffic on the fake grass had to have been somewhat of an experiment. My guess is some sort of water draining issues. Since there isn't dirt under the fake grass, it has to drain somewhere otherwise it will just pool and get moldy/mildew. It worries me that there is standing water on the concrete they just repoured around the fountain though.
I was just in the park, and it looks like they are using the secret path to store equipment for the riverboat work.
I don’t get that they are having all these issues. It really doesn’t make sense. What are the standards that are being done with these construction companies or employees. How do they pass code? And how do they pass a Disney inspection saying that things are good to go for use. Are they using subpar parts? They already close stuff down for long periods of time and then they disappoint when they pretty much immediately have to close stuff down to fix and repair stuff that should have been done right the first time. They plan these projects for years how are they not prepared. It’s just so frustrating as a Disney fan to see things not going well.
I'm guessing it's plumbing issues in Toon Town
I bet (mostly hope) that they're adding exterior lighting to space mountain
I'm thinking that the area around the fountain in Toontown keeps having run off issues. That the water is not draining properly. Maybe the tree in the park has cement at the bottom of where it's planted. This would prevent any water from seeping into the ground like it should. Either way, as I see it…and your video showed standing water in the corner, that's not good. Even worse, it's not good that it's still happening after digging up the cement around the fountain
Kind sir, on some walk-through vids (sorry, other subscriptions), there is an area in DCA, behind Grizzly River Run, as you walk under the ride ramp, on the right, for a couple of weeks, a bush/wall has been up….a chance you could check this? BTW, keep up the great work, love your vids!
You rushed the job and half assed the job. Just like the bridge in DCA.. HALF ASSED AND RUSHED
Hi David, it could have been a mistake in the adhesive they used to secure the grass to the ground. Could have been a water soluble compound and it just didn’t hold up. An epoxy adhesive would have made it to long to cure and wouldn’t meet the opening date.
It sounds like someone did poor quality work in Toon Town. Makes me wonder if concrete used didn’t meet specs.
It’s a shame this is the way Disneyland is going. For the first time in almost 15 years we decided not to renew our pass. Just don’t feel Disneyland is the same and the magic is missing. Very sad.
Have you checked the mattercam lately? I was watching it yesterday and saw scaffolding all over the top of space mountain that I had never seen before and a lot of what looked like 'hootin and hollerin.'
I talked to a staff member at the jazz Kitchen and asked about the abomination of a remodel. The staff member said it was because Disney didn't want another New Orleans themed restaurant to compete with Tianna's Palace and had to make the transition to something more generic or close. Not sure how true that is, but it wouldn't shock me if it were.
Toon town and the bridge could’ve turned out good the first time within the time frame but Disney has been putting so little effort into their projects lately
That looks like a couple of pallets of brick pavers off to the left of the shot of Centoonial Park. My guess is they are going to replace the turf between the tree and the fountain with pavers.
