For future battery salvage, why not slap on a small button console on the block so if you do damage the cells you can still make the grid a ship and bring it back for repairs.
I don’t know if this is how the scraping mechanic works but I’m guessing the power cells get converted to scrap when they are removed from the grid build queue as you’re grinding it so all you would need to do is grind the batteries with a full inventory. That way the components won’t be removed from the grid and the power cells will remain as power cells.
two things: that weld mod has an extra feature you want to use with those batteries; hold control and start grinding, the block will 'pop' off, intact, ready to carry away… Also, now that you have batteries, a pair of event controllers, say at 75% and 90%{?} would cycle your hydro engines for you. Same with the o2h2.
My guess for the ship flip was the dual landing gear in the rear causing phantom forces, it would explain the nose dip. Looking forward to further exploration of Mars
why not make a fortified wall … and a few buildings interior … say storage manufacturing power and living … with some free space and parking inside the compound of the fence
Why didnt you bring BOTH vehicles use the rover for base destruction and battery transport and the airship to move them and place them and carry the extra
Gyro was on but then you flicked it off and that caused a flip due to back weight on the back being greater from the batteries. Why did you turn off gyro?

Doesn't the mod that has the weld pads also do the detach grinding?
In this scenario the gatlings can shoot out to 1200m

do the tanks at the base have hydro? build a large tank and fairy it over to the base and build connectors and siphon the tanks at the flight base.

Have you thought of doing separate buildings, but have underground tunnels connecting them?

I disabled "P" from my hotkeys
I would think you would want downward facing guns too??
One thing you can do if you have grids that aren't aligned is to use hinges, a piston, and connectors.
Hacking Computer v3 would be usefull for looting ships/stashions
