Southeast Asia's largest energy storage system opens on Jurong Island

Southeast Asia’s largest energy storage system is now formally powered up in Singapore, in a boost to the country’s solar power adoption efforts. The Sembcorp facility on Jurong Island is able to power 24,000 households per discharge. It can hold a maximum of 285 megawatt-hours, exceeding the nation’s energy storage target ahead of time.

  1. Incompetents love to brag what they hv waste $$$$ on with no due consideration for ROI, the amt of waste this project has created. Whats the batteries replacement cost? How much space are used to support 2.4% ?Price per KWH ? At best this is small scale expensive project that may not be eco friendly

  2. I have noticed through people around me. Because of the way the newer HDB flats are being built, homeowners may realize later that it is not feasible to allow the laundry to dry naturally (by the sun or wind). In the end, many choose to purchase a dryer machine to speed up the process. If this is the way to go, then we are definitely going backward in achieving a greener environment. Can you imagine if 50% of the flats uses the dryer? This is unnecessary usage of electricity. Should the govt take this into consideration when designing flats? Old flats do not have this problem. Because of the "flawed" designing of flats, it is such a waste that we cannot fully utilize the solar energy.
