I bought that same Shakespeare Wondercast earlier this year. It was grease locked just like that one. I got it up and running like new after cleaning the dried grease out of it. That problem seems to be very common in the old reels I have acquired over the past couple years. When I see grease locked vintage reels for sale the sellers usually has a very low price on them because they think the reels are broken. They're glad to sell them as parts reels just to get rid of them.
I just love thes3ols Spincaster Reels . They are certainly getting hard to find in good working order . We enjoyed the video Dennis .
Hi Dennis , Another Interesting Little Spincast Reel. Pretty Cool to Find one From the 50's ! Good Find Scott 👍.
Most of the time I watch Rick Stiver’s channel to see Spincast reels. It’s unusual to see you doing one. Rick gave me an under-spin Spincast reel that has a lever for casting. It fits under the rod just like the spinning reels I’m used to. I find these reels very interesting as they were the first type reel I used as a child. — Chris
Thanks Dennis. Brings back good memories of fishing with my father and grandfather ☺.
Thanks Dennis – reminds me of when I first started fishing in 1961 in Minnesota. Brought back a lot of good memories.
Have a nice weekend!
