Souldiers recently released on the Nintendo Switch as the newest Metroidvania game. And while the game does do alot of things right and borrows just enough from the Souls formula as well, there are some MAJOR drawbacks that need to be fixed. Watch to see a full breakdown of the game.

This one is such a bummer for me. It looks so cool, and I love both of the types of games it's mashing together. But the loading times are just something I can't get past. I'm a pretty impatient person for one, but two I'm also an adult with a job and a family. Meaning my free time can sometimes be limited, and I just can't justify sitting around waiting for minute and a half loading screens. It's a bummer because otherwise, this sounds right up my alley.
The game looks and sounds amazing. Beautiful sprites and gameplay. How could they get it so wrong with the load times 😞. I just about be able to tolerate it as the storyline progresses but it would drive me nutty on the boss fights. Will keep tabs on it tho in the event they sort it out 🤞. Great review as always buddy.
I had a save issue this past weekend. I lost 6.5 hrs of gameplay cause of it. It's still my favorite game and I will buy the physical copy for PS4. Maybe it'll run better.
It's a shame this review was released 2 days before the new major patch, the devs said in the patch notes they fix the long load times on retry and re-balanced the game on some enemies and bosses.
I've been keeping an eye on this game regularly, and I'm glad I've been patient and just watch gameplay and reviews of this game. Or maybe I'll wait a few more months for more updates before getting the game.
is this switch footage? i play souldiers on ps4 pro and the framerate is choppy af and this looks like 45+fps on switch
what are these devs doing ?
For anyone wanting to buy the game :
I play on pc, patch >1.1.6
My pc is like 10 year old Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.30 GHz / 8Go RAM / GTX 750 Ti
Game is really easy on warrior difficulty. I just buy those "health potion" every time i can and i don't need to learn bosses patern, just steamroll and trade and voila
But if you're someone patient and want to learn them, they're pretty fun. Not as fun as let's say Hollow Knight but that was the best metroidvania from ever so let's be serious a bit.
Loading times on my old config aren't that long, like 6s at best and 13 at worst. Sometimes issues with particles causing lag but never had it in the middle of a fight (often between teleports with valkiries leaving making a lot of particules around the screen)
Gameplay is really fun.
I play with a xbox360 controller, and first thing i did was change controls (from stick to cross), because often on those 2d games, moving with sticks is a nightmare ruining precision.
Really good impression, like a good 8.5/10 BUT KEEP READING it's worse than you could imagine

But… AND THERE IS A BIG ONE
Seeing twitter/steam reviews recently, and OOOH BOY
playing this on console is like wanting to raise a child with a crazy abuser cheating wife
You manage to launch the game ? Great, let me make you wait to play, cause why optimize loading when i can make it longer ?
Ooooh you like gameplay ? Let me ruin it with some well-placed bugs.
You can't finish a puzzle ? Yeah i know, one bug at some part and you won't be able to finish it, and if you saved with the bug, you'll need to make a new save.
Ooooh you managed to go through all this ? Let me make a patch that will corrupt your data and your previous saves won't be compatible with the new update, you'll have to begin from scratch (ps5)
MMMH that is a lot.
The DEV don't know how to implement a difficulty settings = No Buy
