Super hype for E-card.
Top tier character introduction. This old guy oozes demonic energy in everything he says and does. I find his face very reminiscent of the folklore oni too. It's his aura that permeates all of the gambles kaiji goes through in the adaptation. Though of course an aura is only that.
Well, Sahara didn't touch the rail causing him to fall so I guess I won't bite things after all. Frigging AC.
The next game is making me think vaguely of Full-Contact Settlers of Catan. But I don't know why, because it's nothign like Settlers of Catan.
When this first came out, E-card in Japan was like a "mega craze" for people to use themselves. Most not attributing nor realizing it was from this. Something akin to battle royale games and the like. Something so simple on paper, but so deviously appealing.

Like Kaiji, Sawara was an excellent person who got excited at the last minute and was not rewarded for the steel frame crossing. Reality is cruel. How precious and harsh life is. Perhaps the author Nobuyuki Fukumoto wanted to convey this through the steel frame crossing.
