Sons of Tyrants: The Lasting Shadow of Idi Amin over Uganda | SLICE WHO | FULL DOCUMENTARY

In Uganda, the brutal regime of Idi Amin Dada claimed the lives of countless people, including his own close friend and minister, Oboth Ofumbi. After Ofumbi’s shocking murder, the cover-up unravelled Amin’s power, leading to his eventual downfall. Decades later, a surprising journey begins: the sons of both men, who were once enemies, now find themselves working together in the same business venture—a hotel project that aims to bring Amin’s grandiose dreams back to life in Kidepo National Park.

As they travel together through Uganda, visiting safaris and the site of the proposed hotel, the two men start to share their very different memories of a shared tragic past. Through a journey of discovery and reflection, they confront their childhoods, the loss of their fathers, and the impact of their respective tribal and religious backgrounds. The final step of this emotional journey leads to a powerful reconciliation on the family ranch, as leaders from various faiths and communities come together for an African-style ceremony of healing and unity.
