i feel as if time moves differently when the cube is activated also. Maybe the cannibals have been on the island so long that it's just the offspring of the people left there stuck
I played the game with a full host of friends and not 1 of us understood the story at all.
my personal theory regarding the demons and thereby the golden door is that the golden door we open is more than just a door. Just like how the cube opens to reveal another dimension, that door opens into the dimension where the cube rests, and is guarded by the demons (who don't do much damage as long as you wear the golden armor).
Like in the forest There is a good chance that they'll be an update allowing you to cross over to that other world when the cube opened the other door, and that cipher you received with the letters and numbers allowing you to understand the language in that other world.
this game is considerably better than the first one but i think the first ones ending and final fight conclusion is a lot better, wish they kinda had a cool boss in sotf
Too bad the gameplay is the exact same and the game got super stale and boring after just 5 hours… nothing left to do anymore

First, a really good explenation. I now understand a lot more what happend. We were really confused at the end. Second in my cutscene (my buddy didn't had the same) Virginia was also in the golden cube. And after all that stuff happend Virgina collapsed in my Arms and seemed dead. But, when we ended the game and decided to get in the helicopter, Virgina was next to me. Does anyone have a clue what was going on there?

In the forest one of the glass chambers has some big blob thing and maybe the thing Timmy was fighting is that blob pretty sad since the blob was trapped for years and died when it finally got freedom
Also guys this game is early access so they will add more lore and missions and more caves etc..

@Its Shatter During my playthrough virginia also accompanied us in the cube and also left the island with us. Dunno if that really changes the story much but I figured Id ask and see if you cant uncover it
It is interesting that the cube seems to mutate people less the further away they get, which is why the surface cannibals experience only minor psychological mutations compared tothe intense changes in the caves.
That would probably explain why people and humanity are becoming more crazy in real life over time, the cube affects us all but due to being so far away, it's only a slight change, however those mutations transfer to your children so now we have furries, LGBTQ+ and Karens… nothing against these people but these are concepts that would be considered crazy a long time ago.
And these behaviours are just an affect of the mutations from the cube that again, only minorly affect the people far away from it.
Plus my mother noted that people tend to become more crazy and even violent during a full moon, and since the cube activates consistently during moon cycles, if that were a full moon it would further support this idea.
Of course the cube is not real, but it seems to connect with the real world in ways even the developer might not have intended XD

I wonder what's with all the demons in the end of SoTF? They just exist now in The Forest lore lmao? As well as aliens, apparently.
There were christian missionaries that visited the peninsula from The Forest centuries ago. They left abandoned camp cites, bibles, drawings, crates of dynamite and crucifixes. They all died when the death obelisk in the cave was activated. That's the only connection that I can think of. But there were no mention of demons in the first game.
Hope Kelvin gets the best possible life after all that bullshit he went through
Lazy endings. I thought good ending was to make family-tribe with Virginia and make new generation of three-armed post-humans who would win in natural selection.
Only a matter of time for Mark, Bob and Wade to destroy everything in this forest again.
