    Oh boy you are in for a treat.
    You can actually make peace with them because they have an AI that lets you communicate with them. If you pick berries, cut down their trees (which you did), or attack them they will get upset and attack. If you make peace with them they will leave you alone. If you start fights they will send war parties to attack you and your bases.
