  1. So what are your thoughts about Sonic X Shadow Generations gameplay so far? Has it exceeded your expectations, or do you have no expectations for it? Lemme know!
Update: Also my bad guys, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is already on PC since November 2022! Lol idk why I thought it was coming this November

  2. To me, flashy graphics and updates only get you so far. But I'd be lying if I said it didn't give me the wow factor I was looking for.

The gimmicks and mechanics look stellar on execution. But, let's see when it releases.

However: Just because a Sonic game has "hallways" or "corridors" for a section of it's level…. that doesn't make it inherently bad or lazy. Sometimes, simple is effective. Moderation is needed.

Given this game is almost 14 years old and is an updated port, I agree with "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Generations was, and still is, good for its time. This port will make it even better

  3. Upon seing more of the game I can say I and many people switched up and rightfully so. We thought the highlight would be the sonic generations portion but it looks like it’ll be the shadow portion instead. And as a shadow fan I’m beyond happy, I already preordered the digital deluxe today. Can’t wait

  4. If we get Shadow vs Sonic fight, then I hope they give it a Frontiers titan fight where both clash like an DBZ fight instead of just reusing the Gens Shadow boss. I get why they would reuse the Shadow boss fight but still after the bio-lizard fight for Shadow, man imagine Sonic Team flex with Shadow vs Sonic anime fight 🔥🔥🔥

  5. I can imagine that they use Shadow to see how it goes and if everyone likes it they will bring him back in more Mainline Sonic Games maybe? But leave my Goat Sonic and the Black Knight i nailed the Controls and have Fun with this one!

  6. Honestly, it is kinda cool how the series portrays Shadow's power progression. In Shadow, he needed the gun because he had to get back a handle on his abilities first. In 06, he only needed vehicles and weapons to do things physically beyond him, like fly or blow up reinforced search towers. In Shadow Generations, he completely outgrows any dependency on outside tools.

  7. Me personally I think it makes sense for modern Sonic to always have the drop dash because he did have it when he was classic sonic. Why would he all the sudden forget a move? But then why don't they bring back the elemental shields for modern Sonic? I do wish of all moves they'd bring the bounce bracelet back tho

  8. What's great about giving the drop dash to "modern" Sonic is that they have an opportunity to finally get rid of Classic Sonic in next titles. It could provide the 2D sections of future 3D games with great Genesis/Mania/Superstars type of physics !

  9. It'd be cool if we see a whole set of generations for all the characters. Knuckles generation and metal Sonic generations would be awesome… Or maybe just a Sonic 3 adventure generations hybrid.

  10. I'm excited for the game. I hope that the season pass does become a thing as more content for this game would go a long way. Especially additional levels and even boss fights. Its kinda weird that classic Sonic only has 1 boss and 1 rival fight. It would be nice to have a proper Knuckles fight or Blaze as a call back to the Rush games.

Skins also should be pushed a bit more. SA1 and Terios skin is cool but I hope that they don't just stop there. Movie skins are kind of a must since it's weird that they never capitalised on implementing Movie stuff into the games besides the electricity boost. Riders skins, Soap shoes, and even just some odd skins pulled from the mobile games and Speed Simulator would be nice. I would also like character skins so I can play as Knuckles and Blaze but just change some animations. But that might be a bit much.

Some more levels would also be awesome. Having a boost CD level or levels from less mainstream games. Maybe some of the DS version levels and bosses. Implement that Heroes special stage as a minigame.

  11. 15:56 yeah man I agree about the bit about why Sonic Forces was bad
Some people just completely forgot why that game is bad and just dislike it to dislike it because it’s ’’Sonic Forces’’
I wouldn’t even call the game bad just extremely mediocre and bland

  12. As a general rule, I doubt they will touch anything post-2011. That does however limit them to SA2, Heroes, Shadow and 06.
I agree that if they use a boss from Sonic 06, Mephiles is the one that was the most personal foe to Shadow in that game's narrative.

While others suggested Infinite, I don't think they'll touch that for two reasons. One, Forces was six years after Generations and wouldn't really make sense. Two, Forces is still a relatively recent game, even if it's been 7 years now. Though I guess it would be a surprise.

What I would like to see is Shadow interacting with characters that aren't enemies in the cutscenes. I know that's a tall order, but it would be a nice reminder about Shadow's old characterization as "distant, but not cruel" compared to the whole "arrogant and lording it over everyone" schtick he got stuck with up until Sonic Forces made a slight course correction for him.

Also, imagine if this campaign unlocks an extra boss. Like say, a more challenging Time Eater battle?

  13. TBH with the Sonic Generations portion of Sonic X Shadow Generations, I really don't care about the graphics mostly because Gameplay > Graphics and I'm glad that the Drop Dash is being added to Classic Sonic (being that Sonic Origins gave Sonic the Drop Dash and that Sonic Mania/Sonic Mania Plus, Sonic Forces and Sonic Superstars has the drop dash with Mania being it's debut) not so much with Modern Sonic though and the Chao Rescue is a cool idea.

Now for Shadow Generations after seeing the Gameplay, I'm exited for it because this looks to be a tease of what's to come with Sonic Frontiers 2, being able to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Shadow in Sonic Frontiers 2 would be dope (switching between characters for specific puzzles) and I can see the Shadow Generations levels acting as Special Stages for that game.

I still plan on getting it physically on Nintendo Switch (mostly because I have Sonic Generations Vanilla on PC) and as for Sonic Fanboys/Fangirls complaining about the levels saying they're like Sonic Forces' levels, I think it needs to stop, they defend games like Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic 06 and whine about Sonic Forces when yes, Sonic Forces is mediocre and very lackluster but it is what it is, I remember a group of Sonic Fanboys/Fangirls did the same sh*t post Sonic 06 and how they compare Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors to Sonic 06, while the hate for Sonic 06 and Sonic Forces are warranted it's water under the bridge now and it's time to stop beating that dead horse.

Now with Sega-ATLUS possible retiring the Hedgehog Engine (being it's a 16 year old engine at this point in time) Sonic Unleashed remastered with a Episode Knuckles would be a great way to send the Engine off as Sonic Unleashed was the first game to use the engine and I think giving Knuckles his own episode is better than fu*king Silver is because I remember Sonic fans (sane ones too) asking where's Knuckles and if We get Sonic Unleashed and Knuckles, We can see where Knuckles was during the Dark Gaia incident and have His final boss be Dr. Eggman while Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus fight Dark Gaia (hell Ian Flynn can take the story from the Archie Sonic Unleashed adaptation and use that for Episode Knuckles.)

  14. First off, I really do wholeheartedly agree with most of the takes here. I'd like to point you to 2 videos. One by Daviron, and another by Matthasnocuts. They basically talk about how Forces actually gave Sonic fans PTSD, and now they are petrified that anything that even looks remotely like Forces is gonna be terrible, and how it's ruined Sonic discussion. They're really good, I'd highly recommend you watch them.

Secondly, I'm gonna have to disagree with a few of your takes on level design. You used an image by @premydaremy scaling the level design from different games from trash to G.O.A.T.. This is honestly one of the things I dislike about Sonictubers in general, some are just so extreme for no reason.

Why does everyone treat Forces like it's the universes most horrendous atrocity ever conceived by humanity. Most people, including critics, just said it was mediocre. It didn't do anything terrible, but it didn't do anything great, hence it's status. I'll be honest, I liked Lost Valley in my initial playthrough. Please note the keyword: "initial". Part of the appeal of Sonic is that the levels are very repayable. So naturally, when that's taken away, it gets downgraded. But it's no where near as bad as people make it out to be. I can confidently say I would def play again. Like, are you legitimately telling me you are having a horrible time when playing it? Like damn bro, get a grip. You're not doing anything! it's literally empty other than the main path. It's just dumb fun style over substance. How is that worthy of years of hate?

Now to address the prem image.
    Just… why?
What's with the spaces between the others? The image implies that Sonic Colors complete ass in comparison to Sonic Generations. Most people would be confused with that since the games design are so similar. See what I mean by being so extreme? I can understand why it is there though, because while the level design itself is good, it doesn't follow the usual format. That's because of the wisps. These are more explorative based, so in order to make use of it, more 2D is needed for that heavily layered levels. As a boost game, it's not even trying. But like I said, just looking at the image itself says that "oh Colors is ass, Gens is goated".

Now onto other games. You also bashed 06 and Heroes for no damn reason. What did they do? I can't say for Heroes cuz not only have I never played it, it's also so different to the point that I can't put it into the 3 main gameplay styles, classic, adventure and boost. But I can definitely vouch for 06 thx to P-06. The level design is very well done. Have you seen the opening part of Kingdom Valley? There are so many different paths. For the point "People only excuse the gameplay cuz story", while I agree with that, I think it could be used better. Nobody has said that they think the gameplay of the Storybook games is "underrated" or "absolute peak". Most people who say it always present it as a very biased opinion. In fact, people only really bring up black knight for it's story, not gameplay. I have no idea where you got this from.

Thirdly, why the fuck are you so damn arrogant man? You at one point said, and I quote "I'm very critical of Sonic, especially in 3D. So if I say it's good, then it's good. You can take my word for it." I'm sorry but what monstrosity just tenta-fucked my ears right now? Did you really try to use the fact that simply because you're more harsh, you have the only correct opinion? Man, gtfo. I have no beef against you, and I still agree with what you said (mostly). But this is just bad man. Keep going like this and you'll end up in a very bad spot.

But before you go, I have a question. How are the games different? Some say Unleashed has the best, others say Generations is. When comparing to Shadow Generations, some say it's close, others say it's nowhere near (yet still much better than Forces, damn how big is the spectrum?) to the "undisputed G.O.A.T.s". But in my eyes, they're all the same. There is no difference. It's like classic games. It was perfected in 2/CD, and they just do it again. For 3&K, Mania, and Superstars (love them all the same btw). Did well in Unleashed, and every iteration (other than Forces) did it well. And for Colors and Cyberspace, it doesn't as well, but that's because it's focus is different, but it's still great in it's own way. I once tried to convinve myself that Unleashed and Gens are very different, but after constantly switching from Unleashed Project to base, I realize how similar they are. So someone please tell me how they are different.

And lastly, no hate please. I know I was very brutal here, but that was because of the attitude in the video. I mean no harm and I hope that my message comes across well. I apologize if you felt offended or if I was to rude (I can edit if neccasary).

  15. Y'know people never give credit to the Ouranos cyber space stages from 4-2 onward level design being original. It was like everything before 4-2 was homework and 4-2 onward was Frontiers team showing what they learned. Final Horizons was like go wild Sonic Maker style.

  16. It's about time I finally get to be able to buy a pretty decent 3D Sonic game again. I'm definitely coping this version of generations. Considering original Generations is literally the last 3D Sonic game that I bought.

  17. I'll be honest: My faith and hope in Sega and Sonic Team doing anything right nowadays is at an all-time low. When they mess up "Sonic Mania (Plus)" on mobile via Netflix, "Sonic Origins" at launch, and completely mess up "Sonic Colors: Ultimate", it becomes impossible to trust them. Not to mention that "Sonic Frontiers" and especially "Sonic Superstars" were actually mediocre at their core from a critical standpoint. And let's not talk about "Sonic Forces" with how that game turned out.

Even if this remaster ends up being better than the original game, it's still not going to be enough to convince me that Sega and Sonic Team are entirely focused on getting things right. When there are way more disappointing and terrible products than high-quality to very high-quality products, that particular (former) fan who's been wanting quality since the OG days becomes completely cynical. And that's exactly what I've become: completely cynical ("Sonic Superstars" was the straw that broke the camel's back for me).

I'll say this: If the inevitable remake of "Sonic Adventure" ends up being better than the original game, that'll restore quite a bit of my faith and hope for the franchise (outside of the mainline pixel art 2D classic games), Sega and Sonic Team, and the very divided fan base. Until then, this is how I feel as a former OG "Sonic" fan. They have a lot of work to do if they want to restore my faith and hope.
