Ok so April has a stacked month with Morbius, Fantastic Beasts and Sonic 2. The sequel to 2020’s Sonic The Hedgehog is an absolutely brilliant movie and though I haven’t seen Fantastics Beasts yet it’s gonna be difficult to match just how fun this is.
Thoughout this video we’re gonna be breaking it all down but because of this there will be heavy spoilers. If you enjoy it then please smash the thumbs up button and don’t forget to subscribe for the channel where we get sonic till we vomit.

Now Sonic 2 continues on from the first film with Dr Robotnik still stuck on the mushroom plane that first appeared in Sonic and Knuckles. Mushroom Hill Zone hasn’t made him Mushroom Chill though and he’s desperate to get back to Earth.
In a funny sequence which Carrey eats up, he uses his genius to create traps for the people coming to save him and he even has a Wilson reference as he makes an Agent Stone figure out of rock. See I knew he cared for him deep down.
Now it’s not long before Knuckle’s crew turns up and they’re taken out by Robotnik leaving just the red Echidna behind. He’s the last of his kind, the Echidnas, who had the Master Emerald and used it to fight wars before it was stolen by Longclaw’s tribe.
They believed it was too powerful for anyone to bear and there’s actually a lot of lore surrounding it.
In the games, the Master Emerald was located on Angel Island and the Knuckles Crew went on to harness it for themselves, before declining in power to the point their numbers dwindled. They’ve spent their remaining years protecting the Master Emerald from anyone who wished to steal it. We may see the pure Chaos and further backstory of the Master Emerald from the games as we push into Sonic Adventure storylines but that’s for later down the line.
Now the movie adapted the games well as Sonic 3 saw a defeated Robotnik trick Knuckles into the idea that Sonic and Tails were going to steal the emerald but in reality he wanted it for himself to power his Death Egg once more.
The film does a superb job of condensing Sonic 2, 3 and even Sonic & Knuckles a classic that saw the blue streak continue his run of great games before it all kinda went to crap around the time Mario 64 dropped.
It really shows why it’s important to pay attention to the games that paved the way and it’s a complete opposite to Halo, which had the tv show creators dropping in interviews that they completely ignored the games. That show has gone down worse than the Sega VR and Sonic 2 is a great example of how to do it right.

Could've done without the wachowskis and the wedding scenes.
Hope the next movie they drop them considering they have enough to do a full sonic team movie.
There are only 2 things I dislike about the movie, everything following Rachel’s wedding, they spent way to much time on that, especially Rachel getting revenge, and the dance fight
Tails is a boy, he just sounds like a girl
His assistant will team up with shadow for revenge because he won’t be able to find robotnick the real question is if they’ll do the bio lizard or pure chaos as a final boss in the movie
Sonic heroes was bloody amazing
The wedding but was terrible reminded me of the terrible ghostbusters reboot , not funny rest of the film was great

As a former gamer it crazy to think that of all vg franchises to have the best movie adaptations it is sonic. A franchise that has been divisive to its fans base cuz of the lack of consistency and coherence.

I am not a Sonic fan. I don't give a shit about Sonic. I went to see the first Sonic movie to support ethics in business and was pleasantly surprised. I went to Sonic 2 because the first one was good, and I was once again surprised, because this movie was a huge step up over the original. I swear to goodness gracious that the pinot noir I drank has nothing to do with my opinion, lel.

morbius blowed. sonic was seriously the best film ive seen this year. even the sister in law was entertaining! tails was perfect & so cool they got the OG voice actor as well.
We NEED Jim Carrey for another movie. I sincerely hope that Paramount push very hard to bring him back atleast one last time to end the trilogy.

I actually liked this movie minus the poor writing at some points and Jim Carreys this movie on his shoulders because he DELIVERED 👏🏽😂😂 there was also his iconic costume from the games when Agent Stone was scrolling through the designs
I geeked out the whole film seeing so many Easter eggs from the games. When Sonic used an air bubble to breathe I literally yelped in the theater haha! great film
I would say around 8.7/10. I really like it!
If u pause at 1:42 it looks like the animation we get in sonic 1 when we’re out lives but from the back.
[Fun fact] in the movie the master emerald is small but in the classic sonic games it is HUGE!

Angel island is just what the location is called, it’s a piece of the mystic ruins that floated through its power, and it’s the altar of the emerald or shrine of the emerald, lines up lore wise
With Jim Carrey taking a break Agent Stone could be the main villain who makes a deal with Shadow almost like the games where Eggman works with Shadow
Paramount PLUS for the win!
What no way the part were Sonic is snow boarding is definitely a reference to Iced Cap Zone in Sonic 3
