The team is continuing their search for clues concerning the enigmatic treasure that is located on the island. In the year 2020, as they were excavating the southeastern corner of the salty swamp, they came across a big chain and hook that they think to have been in use since the sixteenth century. Now, the team, which includes Rick and Marty Lagina, is digging deeper into the southern shore in the hopes of discovering additional sections of the Stone Road as well as hints indicating the possibility that it was artificially created in order to conceal significant treasures. They discover an odd mixture of sand and peat when they are investigating the soil layers, which raises questions regarding the relationship between the two and the genesis of the swamp. In addition to this, they explore a notion that suggests the swamp was purposefully modified in order to create the Stone Road and transport something of great value from a ship onto Oak Island.
